Trudeau folds to German pressure, pisses off powerful Ukraine lobby

Justin has called down the wrath of the Ukranian Canadian Congress over his decision to send those Siemens turbines back to Germany. Think of it as a game of hot potatoe. Now it's on the Germans if they choose to violate sanctions and send that stuff back to Russia. Which I'm thinking they will. As much as every square-head longs in every fibre of his or her or their being to stand with Ukraine, they'll be rioting in the streets before they burn their furniture for heat next winter. Which goes for the rest of Europe as well. The average folks on the streets of the old world are getting wise to what it means to be collateral damage in America's war on Russia. It's too late for Ukraine, but the rest of the continent still has time to save their ass. It will be interesting to see how NATO/EU/USA "solidarity" survives the coming winter.

BoJo - a turd spewed to the top by a geyser of sewage

That’s a quote from former British diplomat Craig Murray, writing at Consortium News. That’s one of the non-MSM news sites I like to check out on a daily basis, and I suggest you do too. It’ll expand your horizons if you’re accustomed to a steady diet of CBC or CNN, or, Lord have mercy, CBCNN. Yes, there really is such an aberation. Murray pins the demise of the UK, and “western civilization” generally, on the triumph of neocon ideology since the Thatcher-Reagan era. I largely agree with him. The only value that matters anymore is the size of your bank account. The plumper your finances, the more you are held in esteem in polite MSM-curated society. Those with no finances are left with no voice. That’s why across “Western civilization” we celebrate billionaires while children starve. And that’s also why former insiders like Craig Murray are excomunicated from mainstream media and smeared as pro-Putin propagandists. Which, to my way of thinking, makes it even more important to add a sprinkle of Consortium News to your daily diet of MSNBCFOXCBCNN…

Putin crashes Canada internet and cell service

At least if you're a Rogers captive. And even if you're not, apparently all the big banks are, so good luck getting your debit card to work today! Shows you how dependent you are on these electronic grids, grids wide open to hanky-panky by you-know-who. You don't imagine it's mere coincidence this outage comes on the very day Tamara Lich, that Freedom Convoy witch, was ordered to remain in jail till her trial, do you? As we all know, thanks to the brilliant journalism of the CBC, Lich is a white supremacist funded by Putin. Today's cyber-attack is Putin's revenge.

Canadian Armed Forces lets men wear skirts

Check out this story at CBC. Not only can a dude wear a skirt, but he can spice up his look with a little hair dye and some facial tattoos! According to acting CAF boss General Wayne Eyre, the only senior officer not implicated in a sex scandal, yet, the new dress code reflects the commitment to diveristy, inclusion, and equity. That’s all very nice in a nice Canadian sort of way, but are we not missing the big picture here? At the end of the day, “armed forces” have but one purpose, and it isn’t promoting social fads. It’s to kill people, people who you see as a threat to your country. According to the latest propaganda assault, the people we should be killing are the evil Russians, and possibly by next week the evil Chinese and Iranians too. I’m skeptical about how our diversity & inclusion obsessed armed forces will do against the armed forces of our adversaries, who were trained to kill the enemy. On the other hand, it’s possible to see the upside. Some of the boldest warriors in the history of Canada were the immigrants from Scotland. Those dudes wore skirts all the time. Think of this as kilts making a comeback.

That was a close call

I was motoring down to Teviotdale this morning for a breakfast appointment with my old pal Kipling. I'd been behind a white VW Atlas for at least twenty kilometers. He'd felt the need to overtake me on the passing lane just south of Durham. Then he got stuck behind a pickup moseying along at 85 or so, and he stayed there... and stayed, and stayed. Thanks to my years of experience driving a first gen VW diesel, I plan my passes carefully. After noticing nimrod hadn't passed that pickup in half a dozen road-wide-open opportunities, I made my move. Into the oncoming lane, signal light on, gaining fast, the dolt must have had a good ten seconds to see me coming. Just as I'm drawing alongside, the oblivious imbecile pulls out to pass! Wellington County Road 6 doesn't have much of a shoulder, and then drops off steeply. I've got two wheels on the shoulder and two in the ditch, there's a hydro-pole coming at me fast, I feel the car going over, cut to the left of the pole and regain the roadway in a giant dust-cloud. Nimrod was long gone, but the pickup driver was so impressed with my masterful wheelsmanship he gave me a big thumbs-up. Wheelsmanship my ass; it was sheer dumb luck I didn't barrel-roll through that pole and cut my Toyota in half. My immediate impulse was to catch up to Atlas boy and share my thoughts while the adrenalin was still pumping, but on second thought, the irony of having a heart-attack while beating the crap out of the guy who just ran me off the road would have been too rich. Ten minutes later I slide into my booth at the truck stop, only to learn my breakfast appointment was the second Monday of the month, not the first.

Ukraine celebrates victory!

Battlefield victories have become few and far between in recent weeks for our plucky Ukrainian allies. But that is not to say they are without victories. Check out this BBC story for example. Even as things go from worse to even worser in the war with Russia, Ukrainians have won a major symbolic victory. The Ukrainian comfort food “borscht” had been added to the UNESCO index of endangered national dishes. Isn’t that something to celebrate! As we savour this victory in the borscht war, let's take a moment to re-evaluate that other war. How about we call it quits now and start saving 1000 Ukrainians per day by abandoning the US Empire’s plans to weaken Russia by sacraficing every last living Ukrainian.

You can't dance at two weddings with one bum

That was one of the truisms my dear mother-in-law left behind. That was her way of saying "don't over-extend yourself." So I don't. In fact, there are those who claim that not only do I never over-extend myself, I don't do anything else either. They wouldn't be that wrong. Now that I'm retired, I don't do much of anything. Not that I did that much of anything before, but at least I had a job. Funny how when you take the "job" away, there's lots of folks left with nothing. Work defines us. Retirement erases us.
