Canadian media and government are in a flap tonight at the revelation that a couple of nice decent middle-class kids from Ontario became jihadists and traveled to Algeria to participate in the attack on the BP pumping station, where they blowed themselves up real good.
Frankly, I don't know what the fuss is about. While I have no idea what would posses a coupe of middle-class Canadian boy-next-door types to become radical extremists, I'm glad they blew themselves up in Algeria, or at least some other country, and not next door. In fact, this is something to be encouraged.
Planning jihad? Try Islamabad!
But I'm afraid this won't be the end of it. Finally having a couple of genuine terrorists to point to after so many phony police set-ups, the folks in charge will no doubt double down on their campaign of watching everybody all the time and steadily curtailing the basic rights of all Canadians.
