This story just stinks of pettiness.
The kid needs braces. What's the big deal? Pay the f@cking bill already!
But no! Justin "Sunny Daze" Trudeau's minions would rather spend into the six numbers to deny payment to a native family for dental work that cost a tiny fraction of what the government is spending to fight the payment.
What gives?
Could it be they're afraid of setting a precedent?
Hey, if we pay for this kid's braces, a million and a half Indians are gonna run out and get braces...
Like, what exactly is the thought process here?
Frankly, this case underlines a major shortcoming of our vaunted universal health care system. How is dental care not part of health care? If your teeth are falling out and you're in chronic pain, how are you going to get a job, keep a job, and access all the other good stuff that follows?
Dental care needs to be covered by our universal health care program, not just for Josey Willier, but for every Canadian.
The Canadian 'Social Safety Net', like many of our FREE 'services', is anything but free or safe. Not only does the Federal government literally allow the sick and diseased to die but they, with the provincial governments assistance, commit genocide with ongoing policies which have not changed in 200 yrs. The only change has been the increase in obfuscation of the reality.
ReplyDeleteWho has the highest suicide rate on the planet? No, it is not the male teenage population of a certain south sea island. It is the Canadian Inuit people. They are followed closely by young Quebecois men, recipients of the Ontario Works social welfare program, and; seniors on ODSP who are deprived of their dental and other benefits when they begin receiving their Federal pension. Though the methods of suicide are different they are as easy to choose as 'assisted' suicide for those who no longer have any hope in Canada and it's much vaunted freedoms. From opiate overdose, chronic alcoholism and abysmal nutrition to bridge jumpers, shotguns in the mouth or train stoppers they all have one thing in common; they are the sacrificial caste of Canadians whose spilled blood testifies against the landed gentry of, primarily, England, France and Scotland. Call yourself a Canadian and you would do well to do it in a whisper. Born in this country I call myself Metis.
