Where are you, Rabbi Mendelsohn, now that we need you more than ever?
Your protege seems to have slipped his leash.
A week ago he was making a fool of himself at the General Assembly, wagging his finger at the PA for having the audacity to make a "unilateral" bid for statehood.
When Netanyahu announced 3000 new settler abodes the next day, Baird was initially muted in his response. But given a couple of days to see which way the wind was blowing, it was soon announced in the papers that Baird was "reprimanding" Israel about the new settlements.
Is there a serious person in the world who imagines that John Baird "reprimands" Israel?
But look here; now he's reprimanding Syria!
This no doubt has Assad quaking in his loafers... quaking with laughter perhaps!
Is there a serious person on this planet who imagines that the Syrians care what pronouncements come from the Canadians?
Enough! Please, Rabbi Mendelsohn, get this idiot under control. We're counting on you.

Canada Foreign Minister reined in by personal Rabbi
It's not very often that I see eye to eye with a Chabad Rabbi, but there's a story unfolding in Canada that, to me at least, has Rabbi Chaim Mendelsohn's fingerprints all over it.
And I couldn't agree more.
Foreign Minister Baird, in an attempt to ingratiate himself with the emerging new regime in Syria, promised a few million in aid money to an obscure Syrian aid group that may or may not be linked to the family of Omar Khadar, the Canadian child soldier languishing in Gitmo.
While I'm 100% aboard for repatriating and freeing Omar, I'm pretty sure that we don't need to give money to al Qaeda front organizations under the guise of "helping" Syrians suffering under Assad.
Today Mr. Baird recanted.
Good call, Mr. Mendelsohn.

Canada Foreign Minister professes love for Israel 37 times in ten minute speech
You may remember John Baird as the unctuous cretin who allowed himself to be photographed writing a message on a bomb that Canadian jets would later drop on Libya.
Well he's so much more than that.
Baird is currently on a tour of the Holy Land with his personal spiritual guide, ultra-Orthodox Rabbi Chaim Mendelsohn, and everywhere he goes he is impressing his hosts with his slavish obsequiousness.
Cleverly exploiting the void left in Israel's "friends" section after the Americans elected a Muslim to the White House, Baird never misses an opportunity to remind all and sundry that Israel has no closer friend than Canada.
Speaking to Sheldon Adelson's pro-Likud newspaper Israel Hayom Baird astonished his hosts with his grasp of Israeli-Palestinian issues.
"We can certainly differentiate between the white hats and the black hats, and I certainly know who I support," Baird told Hayom's Shlomo Cesana.
Baird's over-the-top toadying has not gone unnoticed. It is now recognized throughout the land that Canada is a better friend of Israel than even the Israelis are.
