I personally feel a special kinship with this story, because my hands helped build the HMCS Toronto.
So what the hell is the Russian Air Force doing intimidating the Canadian Navy right there in the Bay of Fundy?
Oh... wait a minute... the Russian Air Force was intimidating the Canadian Navy in the Black Sea, not in the Bay of Fundy?
Hmm... I'm giving that globe on my desk a good spin, and it looks to me like the Black Sea is way closer to Russia than it is to any place the Canadian Navy would have any conceivable business sailing around in...
Maybe the HMCS Toronto is over there as part of a NATO plot to intimidate Russia?
I guess we can conclude from this story that the "intimidate Russia" strategy isn't working.

Canada Navy woefully unprepared for Ukraine gambit
Harper and Baird talk a big game but here's the straight skinny.
Canada's maritime forces are spread way too thin to lend a hand in the Black Sea.
Mostly Canada's maritime forces are spread amongst a number of ship repair facilities on both the east and west coasts.
For every 3 months a Canadian ship spends defending democracy, it has to spend 3 years in drydock for a refit. It's a little-known but oft proved bit of conventional wisdom.
At the present time only three Canadian ships are able to sail the seven seas, and they're all in the Arabian sea looking for terrorists and illegal drugs.
Here for example is the story of HMCS Toronto making the biggest drug bust in her history.
It's tough when you have to weigh the war on drugs against the battle for democracy, but we are a small country and we can't be expected to punch above our weight every time.

Top Montreal cop linked to Hells Angels
Here's a juicy story!
Top Montreal anti-biker-gang cop busted for supposed links to the Hells Angels.
I'm a little leery about how this story is being spun. Biker gangs are just next to terrorists in the popular mythology that underpins the War on Terror.
It's a continuation of that war-on-drugs segues into the war-on-terror propaganda that's been pushed for a few years now. The great HMSC Toronto, which I personally built, made a major drug bust a few days ago.
By the way, when I say "I" built the HMCS Toronto, I'd also like to thank the thousand or so guys who helped.
That was a good gig, eh?
But anyway, we now see the complete harmonization of the two great wars of our era.
Drugs.
Terror.
This story seeks to glamorize and magnify the power of these "outlaw" biker gangs
We are led to believe that the Hells Angels are such a bad bunch of almost-terrorists that Benoit Roberge was obviously guilty of something really bad just because he talked to Rene Charlebois.
We really need to have more information before we rush to judgement.

HMCS Toronto seizes six tonnes of hashish in Arabic Sea
Which coincidentally is about the same amount as was smoked by the lads at Saint John Shipbuilding in the course of her construction!

Canadian and Australian Navies now tasked with drug interdiction
According to this article at CBC News the two NATO partners have been "working together all week to interrupt drug shipments in the Arabian sea."
