In praise of double standards
Thank goodness we in the West enjoy the blessings of a free press and unfettered TV news coverage. Unlike in Russia, where the benighted masses have access only to state propaganda, we are privy to the truth.
And the truth can be ugly, as the 24/7 saturation coverage of Putin’s war in Ukraine makes plain. Who can even imagine the sub-human barbarity of killing civilians, even women, children, and most shockingly, babies! If there was ever any doubt who are the good guys and who are the bad guys in this world, is has been definitively put to rest for all time.
The people of Afghanistan must be relieved they spent twenty years occupied by USA/NATO, and not the barbaric Russians. We don’t talk about civilian deaths (100,000+) because, as Stalin once said, when you cut down a forest there’ll be a few wood chips. “Collateral damage,” we call it.
Last we heard, and we’ll hear nothing more while Putin hogs the news cycle, is after the good guys left, we seized Afghanistan’s gold and cash reserves from UK and USA banks. Afghan civilians, women, children, and yes, even babies, face certain starvation.
The ongoing Saudi war on Yemen, aided and abetted by UK/USA, has some collateral damage too. (100,000 +)
The carnage continues in Iraq, where US troops remain on the ground two years after the democratically elected government demanded they leave. (200,000+ civilian deaths)
Let’s not forget Syria (350,000 + civilian deaths) in a “civil war” that wouldn’t have lasted a month without the lavish support of the Nations of Virtue. American forces remain on the ground protecting Syrian petroleum resources from Syria.
So let’s not forget who is good and who is evil. NATO officially announced today that Ukraine can stop waiting for actual military support, because this war has nothing to do with it. After engineering the 2014 coup, after 30 years of vague promises of EU and NATO membership, after coddling and encouraging the most belligerent and reactionary elements recklessly and relentlessly for many years, the long-sought disaster unfolding today is not our problem.
That’s how we roll, here in the Nations of Virtue!

We'll make it to the Promised Land any day now
Looks like Sleepy Joe got his 1.9 trillion bailout package through. About half the .9 is for the little people. The rest is for the fat cats. The party donors, in other words.
The national debt is up to who-knows-what, but in these perilous times our leaders feel empowered to keep piling more on, the morons. There is no plan re: how these debts will ever be paid.
But let's not lose sight of the big picture! We're whuppin' that virus, so we are! Big Pharma is pumping out hundreds of millions of doses for hundreds of billions of dollars. Odds are, COVID 19 will turn out to be one of those gifts that keep on giving. The scientists are this very moment discovering that to truly keep the virus down, we will need a booster shot once or twice a year!
So you probably won't go too far wrong if you invest your bailout cheque in Big Pharma stocks.
It's also been discovered by a research team led by famed economist Greta Thunberg that less economic activity means less pollution. Therefore, in order to save the planet, when we build back better, we will have to do so with less economic activity. I know that sounds impossible, but this is where blockchain and crypto come in.
Bitcoin is way too complicated for most folks, me included, to understand. That's why we have to put our faith in the experts, the really smart people who get how it works. And they promise it's gonna be a really great thing. It'll allow governments to tackle corruption, because every transaction is archived in those special egalitarian data cloud-banks.
Bitcoin will also come in handy to pay off that scary national debt. As long as we build enough bitcoin-mining computer networks, we'll be able to pay everything off with bitcoin, and nobody will ever have to work again!
But to unleash its full potential, we have to get going on our 5G networks. We must get over our 5G hesitancy. People are still fretting about brain cancer. Cancer shmancer; that's been studied to death already. Time to stop studying and double down on getting those 5G networks up and running!
Besides, it'll allow AI robots to do remote brain cancer surgery, plus give you faster download speeds!
What's not to like?
Since the great Julian Assange treason scandal of 2010, mainstream media has been remade to more reliably reflect the views of experts who decide what's good for us. Those titles who collaborated with Wikileaks, like the New York Times and The Guardian, have been brought to heel. News is now more consistent, at least if you keep away from the so-called "alt-news" sites, but there's good news on that front as well. Between 5G and AI, those alt-news sites will be a thing of the past in the near future.
So overall, things are looking up! Paradise is just around the corner!

Trudeau more dangerous than Trump - professor
Every other day another apology... but what changes? What gets done?
Precious little, that's what.
Trudeau is the perfect pol for the modern era. All optics, no substance. What with our Feminist Foreign Policy, our newfound commitment to Native Rights and Oil Pipelines, and our obsequious toadying to Uncle Sam, we are one Nation from Sea to Sunny Sea, labouring under an utterly massive case of cognitive dissonance.
Called out on the arrest of the Huawei CFO by Canadian officials, Trudeau responds with a load of hokum on how this nation has an independent judiciary, blahblahblah, and oh yes, he did happen to know about it three days before it happened, but what the heck, just because it's independent doesn't mean it ain't leaky!...
This is the response of the leader of a supposedly independent country which just made an arrest on behalf of the US, because a Chinese company isn't obeying America's orders that they refrain from doing business with Iran.
How is it America's business to dictate to China who they do business with?
As an aside, Trudeau is lying when he says no decision has been made about whether Huawei will be part of Canada's next generation internet.
The decision HAS been made, and no, Huawei will NOT be a part of it. That decision about Canada's future was made in Washington, not Ottawa.

Canadian media blame Trudeau for Harper's Saudi arms deal
Thursday, July 24, 2014
When a story begins with "the US says", is there any reason to believe anything that follows?
The US says it has evidence that Russia has been firing artillery into Ukraine.
I don't know if they have, but the point here is, if the Yanks claim it to be true, does that claim make it more or less likely to be true?
Given the sheer volume of American lying that's shaped history over the past couple of decades, should we give them the benefit of the doubt?
I think it would be prudent to doubt the benefits of giving them the benefit of the doubt.
