Trump's new National Security Strategy concedes victory to Russia and China

Haven't seen a lot of commentary in Canadian media on what is a truly remarkable document. I read it as a death knell for NATO. The "Laurentian Elite," aka the American Empire Loyalists who occupy the heights of Canadian media and academia, must be soiling their adult diapers. The Yanks look to be handing off Ukraine to their European allies. That's unfair to the allies, because their enthusiasm for the war was only possible because Uncle Sam was promising "whatever it takes for as long as it takes." That was four years ago, when that claim was yet fresh and plausible. Four years and a million or so dead Ukrainians later, that claim has been decisively debunked. The combined NATO didn't have what it would have taken. What the NSS makes plain is that America no longer aspires to World Hegemon. That's the good news. The bad news is they're doubling down on the Monroe Doctrine. That means whipping the western hemisphere into shape. I think this will backfire. Trump's bullying of Latin America will unite the continent in solidarity against the US. This is already visible in comments coming from Colombia with respect to the "narco-terrorist" confection. Petro, largely seen as a Yanqui stooge, is standing with Maduro. What should Canada's approach to these new realities be? When you look at a map you see we're situated between Russia and the USA. Any de-escalation between them can only be a positive for us.

Canada promises to flush another $200 millions down the Kyiv commode

Why? If the $22 billion (roughly $500 million every month) we've already sent hasn't moved the needle in Ukraine's favour, why would anyone think another $200 million would do the trick? But such are the delusions of the "coalition of the willing." It's the same flawed logic that demands a 20th round of sanctions because the previous 19 have hurt Europe more than Russia. This latest tranche of boodle willl be sent to Washington, there to be bundled with tribute from other vassals and distributed to American military contractors as Donald Trump sees fit. Yup, we're sending Canadian tax dollars to enrich Boeing and Lockheed! For 200 million I hope PM Carney at least gets a pat on the back and an "attaboy" from the big dog. Speaking of which, what's the Orange Ogre up to in Venezuela? Pack your bags, Maduro! The Free World is about to gift your longsuffering people Human Rights and Democracy! Too bad about those innocent fishermen... to be honest, when I see three or four V-10 Merc Verados hanging off the transom of a thirty footer, I'm pretty sure those aren't fishermen. Which doesn't change the fact that killing them "extrajudicially" is considered a crime against humanity, or at least it would be if anyone other than Uncle Sam did it. I would guess it's beyond Trump and his minions to appreciate the irony of pardoning a man convicted of facilitating the import of 400 tons of coccaine into America while they're busy vaporizing small-time drug runners.

Canada keen to commit half a trillion dollars to obsolete weapons

The Globe & Mail had a full-page fluffer yesterday re: Carney's historic choice; which foreign-built attack submarine should Canada buy? There is of course another possible answer; let's not buy any! Parse the Globe story and you'll find who the preferred target of those new submarines will be; Russia. We are told the lifetime costs of this pending contract will be north of $100 millions. Here's a thought. Ukraine, with no navy to speak of, has pretty much shut down Russia's Black Sea Fleet. How? With drones. Drones are the future of warfare. Only fools would commit billions to buying submarines that can be destroyed with low-cost drones. Same is true for our other RCN boondoggle, the "Surface Combatant Program." That's pencilled in at over $300 billion. Any one of our new billion dollar frigates can be sent to the bottom by a determined adversary with relatively simple and cheap technology. We're up to $400 billions here. Throw in the F-35 deal and the NORAD "Golden Dome" and we're heading towards a trillion right smartly. This is going to choke off social spending for the next fifty years. That's the spending that makes Canada a decent place to live, or it used to, back when we could afford it. That was before Russia started threatening our democracy though, so we have no choice.

Haiti in the headlines

Frankly, I'm shocked we don't see headlines about Haiti more often. After all, Haiti is practically in our back yard. It's barely a four hour flight out of Montreal or Toronto. Kyiv and Tel Aviv are at least ten hours away, yet you hear ten times as much from those compared to Haiti. I figure that's mainly because Ukraine and Israel both have powerful lobbies in Canada, powerful enough to get attention, and results, in Ottawa. Haiti has nothing comparable. Sure, they've got Michaelle Jean, the first Black Governor General of Canada, but she disgraced herself in the eyes of official Ottawa, by starting a foundation to lobby for reparations for Blacks in Canada. In official Ottawa they just roll their eyes and mutter, "after everything we've done for her." But back to Haiti, which has actually warranted a few news stories lately. Back in August, there were stories on multiple semi-reputable news sites, including CBC, about Erik Prince signing a contract with whoever passes for government down there, to bring in one of his private "contractor" armies to take on the gangs. I'd be delighted to provide a link, but unfortunately my ability to do links on this platform disappeared around the time the warning showed up that I'm violating community standards, so forget links - I'm glad to be able to publish at all. In case the name doesn't ring a bell, Prince is the billionaire Trump pal who got rich by subcontracting US military jobs, because as we all know, the private sector can do everything more efficiently. And Blackwater, his mercenary outfit, was so efficient at killing Iraqis that they've had to change their name every few years just to stay ahead of the multiple lawsuits they're facing. That was in mid-August. Hardly a month later, Haiti hits the headlines again! Erik's company, currently known as "Vectus Global," looks like it's keeping up the Blackwater tradition of mowing down civilians in the interest of peace, security, human rights, and, last but certainly not least, profits! Eight children dead and another six wounded in a drone attack, according to CBC. Ironically, on the same day, the Global Affairs Canada website announced a $60 million contribution to the security of Haiti. Hmm... I wonder how much of that will find its way into Erik's pockets?

The folly of trying to spend our way into Donald Trump's good graces

Mark Carney has a two-part strategy to get Canada off Trump’s shit list. It’s been a humiliating ordeal for every decent Canuck to hear those “51st state” jibes over and over again, even after our king politely hinted to the American king that many Canadians didn’t like it. Part one is spending a shit-load of money on what we call “defence.” This is considered a viable strategy because we know one thing Mafia Don really and truly respects, even more than women with big boobs, is shit-loads of money. Part two is hiding Part one from decent Trump-hating Canadians. Hence the “mis-direction” about turning to Europe for defence partnerships. That’s kinda rich, because, while CBC and the Globe would rather keep you in the dark, every leader in NATO is literally begging Trump to re-commit to America’s leadership role. That’s because they know they don’t have a hope of vanquishing Putin without him. The bad news is they won’t defeat Russia with him either. Here’s some numbers NATO fans should keep in mind. In 2021, the year before Putin’s full-scale and fully unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, combined NATO/USA military spending was 1.22 trillion USD. Russia’s was $66 billion. By 2024, Russian military spending had more than doubled, to 149 billion USD. That’s an $80B USD boost. NATO spending went from 1.2 T to 1.56 T. In other words, while Russia bumped spending by 80 billions, NATO bumped spending by almost 400 billions. And what happened on the ground in those two years? NATO and their Ukrainian patsies are making Russia look great again, that’s what! The only reason the war continues is because admitting defeat would mean the end of NATO, and there are far too many Important People collecting fat pay packets to ever allow that to happen. ONWARD FREE AND DEMOCRATIC NATIONS - TO THE LAST UKRAINIAN!

Can Canada survive Donald Trump?

According to the crack journos at CBC and the Globe & Mail, Canada is facing an existential crisis. Our forever besties south of the border want to annex us. For real! Read any recent op-ed by Andrew Coyne. It’s all because of the unhinged moron our neighbours voted into the White House last November. Catherine Cullen, of CBC’s The House, got a few minutes with UK Foreign Secretary this morning. He was in Canada for a meeting of the G 7 foreign ministers to formulate their Ukraine strategy. She spent one minute asking one question about Ukraine, and ten minutes asking one question, over and over again, about why our G 7 allies aren’t standing with us against Trump. The short answer, Catherine, is that every one of them is, just like Canada, a US vassal. Number one rule for vassals who have ceded their sovereignty to the Hegemon is this; remember your place. Otherwise, you’re cruising for a slap-down. Neither Lammy nor any of the other G 7 chihuahuas are dumb enough to risk that simply because the thin-skinned Canadians feel threatened by Trump referring to us as the 51st state. Perhaps our elite are suffering a pang of conscience for the many years they looked the other way while the Leader of the Democratic World bullied sundry smaller nations. Surely they are acquainted with the “Ledeen Doctrine;” every ten years the US needs to throw some shitty little country against the wall to show the world we mean business. The term was coined 25 years before Mafia Don entered politics. Maybe they’re afraid it’s our turn, or maybe it’s just a bad case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, which has always hit the journalism profession particularly hard. While much of our over-reaction strikes me as juvenile posturing unworthy of a serious country, the moment provides an opportunity for sober second thought on some recent decisions. The F-35 purchase comes to mind. The more you read about it, the more you realize it’s an overpriced piece of shit American pilots would prefer not to fly. There are sound reasons the plane has never seen combat, unless you count dropping bombs on Gaza or shooting down Chinese weather balloons. The F-16 and F-18 are superior fighter jets. By far the most intelligent thing I’ve seen in the Globe re the Trump threats is a full page advert on page A20 in today’s paper, placed by Caldwell Investment Management CEO Brendan Caldwell. It’s an open letter to Mark Carney, exhorting him to take the high road and eschew the “elbows up” jingoism so popular these days. After all, we don’t demonstrate Canadian values by stooping to Uncle Sam’s level.

Globe & Mail editorial board laments death of Pax Americana

According to the clique of American Empire Loyalists who comprise the Globe & Mail’s editorial board, the post-WWII era of US hegemony, “Pax Americana,” was a time of unprecedented peace and prosperity in the world. It was? Try telling that to the millions of Koreans who paid the ultimate price from 1950 to 1953. Try telling that to the further millions who made the ultimate sacrifice in Viet Nam, Laos, and Cambodia in the 1960s and ‘70s. Try telling that to the millions in the Middle East who have enjoyed the non-so-tender machinations of the Leader of the Free World, from the overthrow of Iran’s democratically elected government in 1953, to the destruction of Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, and Libya, to the unlimited support for Israel’s decades long campaign to ethnically cleanse Palestine of Palestinians. Try telling that to the peoples of El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Chile, and Argentina where US support for fascist governments disappeared hundreds of thousands. The cozy smug American Empire Loyalists at the Globe editorial board don’t remember any of that. All they recall is 80 years of peace and prosperity! Now, in the space of a week,… Mr. Trump has ended Pax Americana. Oh, for fucks sakes! How can you publish such overwrought rubbish? Yesterday’s editorial goes on to proclaim that Canada is left with no choice but to follow the liberal democracies of Europe as they rally to keep Pax America afloat without America. This means joining the unelected Ursula von der Leyen’s jihad to raise a trillion euro’s for the defence of democratic Ukraine. Ya sure, why not? Another trillion down the “whatever it takes for as long as it takes” black hole? That’s beyond stupid, beyond counter-productive, beyond complete mental retardation. Yup, that’s the road we want to take! And it’s not just the editorial board at the Globe. Top Globe thought-leader Andrew Coyne has become completely possessed by Trump Derangement Syndrome, to the point where his latest rants are a cry for professional intervention. In one single recent 800 word op-ed, he informs his readers that Trump is: a nullity, depraved, callous, insane, a criminal, a madman, crazy crazy crazy, a threat to the peace of the world, and a moron. Dude! Lean back in your La-Z-Boy, put on some Bob Dylan, and fire up a fattie. Works for me.

Is NATO over?

That wasn’t a mere turd JD Vance dropped in the punchbowl in Munich last week; that was a full-on double-barreled shit. So, is NATO over? It should have been over 35 years ago, obviously, but keeping it chugging along served a useful purpose for the American Empire. It made America’s adventures in Yugoslavia and Libya look like there was more behind them than America’s lust for destruction. It also kept the money flowing to America’s military contractors. As anyone even peripherally acquainted with the facts of the Ukraine war will know, without Washington’s policy of NATO expansion, there would have been no war. Lucky for Uncle Sam, NATO has long absorbed the Baltic chihuahua’s, whose ever-shrinking populations haven’t diluted their historical Russophobia. Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia, with a combined population less than the greater Toronto area, and no military capabilities to speak of, are the loudest voices for war with Russia in all of NATO. So it’s no surprise they were blindsided when Vance broke the news Washington doesn’t love them anymore. It’s quite a slap in the face to the American Empire Loyalists in the heights of media and academia in Canada. Until very recently, we were treated to multiple Globe and Mail opinion writers exhorting us almost daily that we need to spend gazillions of dollars on fighter jets and submarines so we can “stand with our allies.” Now that we understand how Uncle Sam really feels about us, ie, 51st state if we’re lucky, we’ve suddenly realized all those sacrifices to the national treasury we’ve been demanding, would be made so we can “stand with” Latvia and Lithuania? And we haven’t even got to the best part; Trump and Putin are now solving the Ukraine war without consulting the EU, NATO, or even Ukraine. This absolutely, positively, has to be the last nail in NATO’s coffin. But yet… Just how frightened are the vassals now that Uncle Sam has dumped his Ukraine war in their laps? Are they scared enough to cough up 5% of GDP for US weaponry? Are the scared enough to up that to 10% if the Empire demands it? I have a hunch Trump-Putin negotiations may not end to America’s liking. Uncle Sam could well need a posse again in the near future. If so, look for a lot of kissy-face hypocrisy as the Big Dog and the poodles make up.

Uncle Sam: destroyer of nations

The trail of destruction goes back decades. Uncle Sam has wrought his magic from the Korean peninsula to the Caribbean to the Middle East. The carnage continues. American senator and perennial War Pig Lindsey Graham was in Munich this week, spreading the word about freedom and democracy, and in a sit-down with Ukraine’s Zelensky, thanked him for sacrificing hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians so that no American’s had to die to bleed Russia. Zelensky sat there like a scared rabbit and took that abuse. Left to its own devices, Ukraine would never have provoked a war with Russia. But no, we could not resist. The US spent billions subverting democracy in Ukraine. John McCain and Vicky Nuland handed out sweets in the Maidan! Once our ultra-nationalist pets were in place, we promised them the moon! NATO membership! EU membership! Everything it takes for as long as it takes to put Putin in the dustbin of history once and for all! Three years and a million dead Ukrainians later, Uncle Sam is harumphing about Zelensky’s lack of appreciation for everything we’ve done for him. Ukraine isn’t the only country being destroyed by Uncle Sam’s war on Russia. Germany, the industrial heartland of Europe ever since WWII, is rapidly de-industrializing. Why? Because some unknown entity destroyed the Nordstream pipeline! Now Germany relies on LNG shipments from America that cost four times what they used to pay for Russian gas. But, according to geopolitical geniuses like Sholtz and Baerbock, that’s actually a blow for freedom and democracy! And so it goes… The clearly ridiculous becomes an article of faith, and as Lindsey Graham reminds us, it’s all worth it to save American lives while we defeat tyranny and preserve freedom in the world.

Globe & Mail once again bullshitting us about Ukraine disaster

One of the top knobs at the Globe brain trust offers a masterpiece of revisionist history in his Saturday op-ed; Toxic myths about Ukraine are poisoning its future. Here are the toxic myths, or “three malicious fictions about 2014,” as Doug Saunders puts it. There was a coup in 2014 The coup involved NATO The United States and its officials interfered You need to read the whole thing yourself to fully appreciate Doug’s nuanced grasp of geopolitics, but here’s his concluding paragraph, just to give you a taste; Talk of Ukraine joining NATO, and of significant Western support, didn’t really begin until after Mr. Putin’s second invasion in 2022. A decade ago, the Americans and NATO both wanted to stay away from Ukraine. Far from the “Western expansion” fictions, the fate of Ukraine was left to Ukrainians. Oddly enough, NATO itself contradicts Doug’s nonsense. Check out Relations with Ukraine on their website. Here’s a quote; In response to Ukraine’s aspirations for NATO membership, Allies agreed at the 2008 Bucharest Summit that Ukraine will become a member of NATO. According to Doug, 2008 was the year NATO made it “clear they did not want Kyiv in the alliance!” I don’t want to rush to judgement, but it looks like the Globe is publishing bullshit again. Here’s the text of my letter to the editor. To: Letters The historical record reveals Mr. Saunders' "three malicious fictions" are themselves toxic myths.  Saunders claims that the infamous Nuland-Pyatt recordings, widely interpreted as America choosing the next government, was made after Yanukovych "stepped down," and was merely "expressing her wish that more democratic candidates would prevail -as one would hope any diplomat would." In fact, the tape was released on February 4th, Yanukovych "stepped down" on February 21st, and the candidate favored by Nuland and Pyatt was president by the end of the month. Nuland also claimed in 2014 that the US had invested over $5 billion in "promoting democracy" in Ukraine since 1991. The claim that "talk of joining NATO didn't really begin until 2022" is equally spurious. The Globe and Mail archives reveal an abundance of stories and op-eds that focused on exactly that, going back at least as far as the early days of the Harper government. It is relentless American interference(with the enthusiastic support of Canada) in the internal politics of Ukraine that has poisoned its future. Dieter Neumann

Mysteries of the "deep state"

As you know, the folks who run America’s democracy theatre have a big event coming up in a few weeks; the election. You know the main characters; in the red corner, the Black Hat, Donald J Trump. And in the blue corner, the White Hat, Kamala. Due to the limited intelligence of the average American voter, the script-writers like to keep things simple enough that your typical WWE enthusiast can follow the action. Polls tell us the race is too close to call. In order to shake things up, the brain trust running the White Hat’s campaign sent her out on a media blitz recently. I’ve seen the Opra interview, the 60 Minutes interview, and her appearances on Colbert and The View. Sending Kamala out to meet the people has been, in my opinion, a tragic mistake. The woman has exposed herself as a complete airhead. “So what will be your policy priorities, Kamala?” “Well… before I address that, I just want to say how much I love the American people. I grew up in a middle class home, and you know, ambition and work ethic! I love the American people because we have dreams… we have aspirations… we work hard… we have dreams…” Other than that, and badmouthing Trump, she ain’t got nuthin! Meanwhile, what’s the Black Hat up to? As we know, Trump is a bad guy who can’t wait to end democracy in America. What do you expect from a Putin fanboy? And he’s ready to stab Ukraine in the back! Who can even imagine such an outrage? Ukraine, the plucky little country fighting Putin so democracy can survive, not just in Ukraine, but all over the world! And Trump wants to pull the plug on our support for this bravest of all democratic nations! And let’s not forget that Trump’s number one backer is the odious Elon Musk, the world’s richest man! The man who bought liberal, freedom-loving Twitter, and turned it into a hate-spewing fascist propaganda organ! There you have the broad outlines of the narrative, the plot, so to speak, for the Big Show. Now let me step back for a moment and play theatre critic. Aside from being the world’s richest man, and an enthusiastic promoter of far-right conspiracy theories, who is Elon Musk? Why, he’s the beneficiary of $hundreds of billions in financial support from the US government for his various deep-state-adjacent enterprises. Like Space-X. If you suspect NASA was privatized and Elon ended up with it, you wouldn’t be wrong. Which brings me to the Atlantic Council. That’s the “intellectual” think-tank arm of NATO. It is funded by the US government and a gaggle of defence contractors. It is 100% committed to the doctrine of American exceptionalism and is a “deep state” creature through and through. Every year, on the occasion of the UNGA shindig in NYC, the Atlantic Council celebrates a few world leaders for their service to Empire by bestowing upon them the “Global Citizen Award.” This year, one of the recipients of the Global Citizen Award was PM of Italy, Georgia Meloni. If you recall, when she was elected, the mainstream media couldn’t give you enough scare stories about how she was the reincarnation of Mussolini! Pro-Putin and anti-American! Fortunately, on winning the election, she came to her senses and soon embraced the urgency of standing with Ukraine for as long as it takes. And who presented her the award? None other than that anti-establishment rebel, Elon Musk! Yup, the same guy bankrolling Donald Trump, the anti-establishment once-and-future swamp-drainer! Wow! Well, clearly this two-horse race could go either way. Luckily for freedom, democracy, and human rights, these two diametrically opposed candidates can agree on one crucial thing; they both 100% support Israel, no matter what.

NATO promises to fight Putin to the bitter end of the last Ukrainian

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg was a guest on Face the Nation today. NATO is “celebrating” its 75th anniversary with a big shindig in DC. You’ll be seeing a lot of Jumpy Jens on the news in the week ahead. Jens assured us that every NATO member was devoted to peace on earth. There can not, however, be peace on earth until Putin is defeated. To that end, NATO members will make numerous commitments this week to ramp up support for Ukraine. We will especially increase our training of Ukrainian troops, and our supply of artillery shells and air defence systems. The AD systems will have to wait till we ramp up production, and that takes time. Ditto for ammo. Years. The good news is we can go full bore on the training immediately! The only flaw in this plan is Ukraine is pretty much out of recruits to train. Besides, NATO has been inflicting their training on the Ukraine military since 2014. There’s a widely held belief in Ukrainian circles that NATO training is bullshit, but they go along with it because they need the non-existent hardware that’ll arrive when new munitions plants are built in the USA. When you bear in mind that the root cause of this war is NATO’s relentless eastward expansion, you’d think Ukraine would have wised up by now that their best interests are definitely not front and centre in DC. Meanwhile, NATO member Hungary’s PM was just in Moscow for a cozy sit-down with the very Putin Stoltenberg promised NATO would vanquish on the battlefield! In contrast to Stoltenberg’s promise of war, Orban, the back-stabbing Putin-appeasing traitor, made the ludicrous claim that “Europe needs peace!” Can you imagine! NATO is not as united as Mr Sec-Gen wants us to believe. The “most successful military alliance in history,” according to Jens, is being successfully demilitarized by their proxy war with Russia. And Ukrainians are paying the price.

US dumps Ukraine file on hapless patsies in EU

It's beyond obvious that Ukraine has become a liability to the "Nations of Virtue" in their war on Russia. The US-led war on Russia has hit a dead end, and Washington want to wash its hand of it. And here’s the funny part; America’s EU bumboys are picking up the hot potato and running with it! How retarded is that? What we’re witnessing here, is the real-time dissolution of the mighty US Empire. There’s a lot of so-called “elites” all over the EU who have tied their wagons to the grandiose promises of the American Empire. “We are today and will always be the LEADER OF THE DEMOCRATIC WORLD!” Yup… as Clueless Joe pointed out in that disastrous “debate” last week, the USA remains the "indispensable nation” with the greatest military in history blah blah blah… And while it’s difficult to comprehend, well-educated elites in countries like Sweden and Finland still fall for this bullshit! Meanwhile, even as Putin is almost out of tanks, missiles, drones, and every other implement of battle, he nevertheless succeeds in demilitarizing not only the Ukraine, but all of NATO! While US proxies flail and fail in Ukraine and the Middle East, our legacy media continue to bullshit us with tales of democratic derring-do. On Canada Day, the Globe & Mail’s editorial committee treated us to a lecture about how Canada can regain the respect of our allies if only Canadians could make some sacrifices. Specifically, we need to move the Canadian economy to a war footing. That’s right! Fuck healthcare and education and housing and potable water in indigenous communities… we need to massively upgrade our military to face down those authoritarians trying to mess with our democracies! All Canadians must make sacrifices to preserve “our way of life.” I’m not buying it. If you ask me, we’d be way better off distancing ourselves from Uncle Sam and the NATO gang. Instead, we should invest the hundreds of billions slated for F-35s and obsolete warships into housing, healthcare, and education. It’s time we had a government that put the interests of Canadians ahead of the interests of politicians sucking up to Uncle Sam. After all, “democracy,” as last week’s debate revealed, ain’t what it used to be. No wonder the Canadian Armed Forces and virtually every other military in NATO can’t meet recruitment quotas. Who would be foolish enough to die for the “values” NATO espouses today?

Game changer! Canada donates 10 inflatable boats to Ukraine

Inflatable boats are gonna turn the tide in the war with Russia? Of course! Whenever Zelly or Zaluzhny are doing their begging bowl tours that’s the first thing that comes up, right? After all, ten Zodiak inflatables should drive the aggressor out of the Black Sea for good! My hunch is even Murray Brewster and his CBC editors were embarrassed. That’s why the story says we "sent equipment" without specifying what that equipment was. Blair and his boss needed a snappy headline, so the word went down the ranks; what’s left in the cupboard? After a thorough search of DND warehouses across the land, word came back, “they pretty much cleaned us out already, but we do have these ten Zodiaks, purchased as lifeboats for our sub fleet, that we don’t need anymore.” Ukraine doesn’t need them either, but Blair and Trudeau got a headline that makes it look like they’re doing something. Yup… look at us, still standing with Ukraine!

Apocalypse Joe says USA "still beacon to the world"

Biden claims US is still a beacon to the world... sure thing, Joe! 10,000 migrants wading across the Rio Grande every day can't be wrong! Biden’s speech from the Oval Office last night was an unofficial declaration of WWIII. We must not waver in our support for Ukraine. And we can never ever waver in our support for the Chosen People. Ergo, we must gird our loins for the coming battle against evil-doers. Airy-fairy shit like the Climate Crisis is obviously gonna have to wait. We are embarking on the ultimate struggle between good and evil, and if you think we’re not the good guys, you’ve obviously been poisoned by Putin’s propaganda. Meanwhile, reports were already coming in about missile attacks on illegal US outposts in Iraq and Syria, and that was before Apocalypse Joe even finished his speech! Meanwhile, the IDF has the green light to roll into Gaza… Meanwhile, Hezbollah has promised it’ll send missiles to Tel Aviv and Dimona if IDF enters Gaza… Meanwhile, USA has carrier strike force in East Med, with a second carrier strike force on its way… Meanwhile, Russia has hypersonic missiles that are eager to meet that US fleet… The times are getting way too interesting for my liking.

Zelensky goes home with lots of promises but no candy

Looks like Zelly pretty much struck out in Vilnius. “Our thoughts and prayers are with you, pal, now piss off”! How long do you figure it’ll take for the ultra-nationalist factions in Ukraine to wake up to the fact that they and all Ukrainians have been used, abused, and betrayed by USA/NATO? The wake-up call is long overdue. From the get-go Ukraine’s Western “allies” slow-walked every military assistance package. Ukraine was pleading with NATO to close the skies since the first days of the war. It took over a year to get limited commitments of F-16 fighters, and none have arrived in country. Meanwhile, Ukraine was pressured into showing results for our grudging release of a few hundred main battle tanks, AFVs, and artillery, all of which are essentially useless without air cover. And now we lecture Ukraine about how they need to show more gratitude? Once the ultranationalist factions appreciate the gravity of their betrayal, they’ll hate America and NATO more than they hate the Orcs. There will be payback.

Journalism or propaganda?

On Wednesday Global Affairs Canada issued a news release, in concert with the governments of Sweden, Ukraine and the UK, condemning Iran and demanding justice for the victims on flight PS752, the Ukrainian airliner shot down by Iranian missiles minutes after take-off from Tehran on January 8, 2020, resulting in the deaths of all 176 aboard. The news release runs a couple of hundred words. On Thursday The Globe and Mail reported on the news release. The story starts top left of the front page and gives you another dozen paragraphs on page 4. In a couple of thousand words it sheds no light on what may have transpired that day, but dwells on the suffering of the victims’ families and the odious malevolence of the Iranian regime. So what else was going on in Iran on January 8? While the Globe story doesn’t mention it, that was a dangerous day in Tehran. The Iranians had fired a barrage of cruise missiles at American military bases in Iraq that day, payback for the American assassination of Qasem Soleimani the previous week. That brazen hit, completely beyond the pale under international law, was authorized personally by America’s gangster-in-chief at the time, Donald Trump. So who can blame the Iranians for being a little jumpy? They were expecting imminent retaliation for the missile attack that killed no one but allegedly left over 100 US personnel with traumatic brain injuries. Shooting down a passenger airliner by mistake under those circumstances seems more than plausible. Oddly enough, that was also the excuse when the Americans shot down Iranian flight 655 in 1988, a passenger airliner, killing all 290 persons on board. These facts would have been considered essential in establishing context in the old days when The Globe and Mail used to do journalism. Now that they’ve re-invented themselves as a propaganda organ for American Exceptionalism, it’s become more important to avoid context.

Stupified by our own stupidity

I see where the latest off-broadway production in democracy theatre has ended its run. The Jan 6 show was an embarrassing attempt to promote the twin theses that a) America is a democracy, and b) Donald Trump remains a grave threat to said democracy. First of all, America's democracy bona fides are somewhat lacking. This is not democracy. This is a leadership clique comprised of the best and the brightest of career politicians and the best and the brightest in tech, academia, big business, and the military-industrial complex looking to curry favour. "Best and brightest" is of course a euphemism for best funded and favoured by the Davos crowd. In other words, the textbook definition of a fascist state. If the American public can't see that, what else can't they see? A lot of them haven't even figured out Trump is just part of the show. Nor have they figured out that the Zelensky fever that engulfed the free world these last 10 months has been a PR campaign of epic proportions, run by folks who otherwise might be coaxing you to buy a Toyota or a Big Mac. It's all PR and bullshit, folks, brought to you by the usual crowd of corrupt corporate lobbyists shilling for the Big Five defense contractors. The defence lobbyists even sponsored a party at the Ukr embassy in Washington last week. Why not? Ukraine's war has been an absolute bonanza for them! For Ukraine, not so much.

Uncle Sam takes Europe down the garden path

If you heard the words of that tedious mediocrity Borrell recently, you'll appreciate the garden reference. I’m aware my take on the Ukraine war doesn’t follow the mainstream template. Putin desperate to reconstitute a Russian empire? Nah… far more likely; a desperate American empire hoping against all evidence to maintain the status quo. The usual mainstream experts, every one of whom has a vested interest in promoting a particular narrative, have been telling us since February Ukraine is winning the war. The reason they keep telling us that is because America’s rep is on the line here. The entire point of Uncle Sam’s Ukrainian adventure, aside from further enriching the usual suspects, is to demonstrate to the world that the World Boss is still the world boss. That’s been a hard sell ever since the Greatest Military of All Time folded the tent in Afghanistan. Having lost a twenty year battle with semi-literate religious fanatics, Uncle Sam decided to reclaim his mojo by taking on Russia and China. After all, those are autocratic bad-guy states, and America leads the democratic and free world, and therefore we must ensure freedom, democracy, human rights, and US hegemony prevail. This battle for the preservation of America’s global leadership is playing out far away from America’s borders. It’s playing out in Europe. How and why European elites have bought into this scenario is another matter, but this is where we’re at. When Europe realizes the price they’re paying in the battle to preserve American exceptionalism, there may be some hard feelings. No where more than in Ukraine. No less an authority than Henry Kissinger once opined that to be America’s adversary is dangerous, but being America’s friend is deadly.

Jews and Ukraine

I find it hard to believe, given Ukraine's WW2 historical record, that there can be such a thing as a Jewish Ukrainian nationalist. Yet, that is precisely what we are expected to believe. How could there be Nazi's in Ukraine when they elected a Jewish president? Sure. What I find far more plausible is that there might be Jews with historical memories who seek the destruction of Ukraine. Manipulating Ukraine into a catastophic war might be a means to that end. That's exactly what Ihor Kolomoisky has pulled off. He was one of the leading oligarchs plundering Ukraine since independence, and has been Zelensky's sponsor from way back when the Z-man was just another B-list porn star wanna be. Kolomoisky was a media mogul who saw Zelensky's star potential. It's curious that you seldom read anything about him in our mass media. He lives safely in Israel because they never extradite a citizen anywhere for any reason. When you look at what's happening to Ukraine today, you'd almost think someone's revenge dream of destroying the country has come true.
