No way can Carney get anywhere near his infrastructure dreams without destroying Indigenous rights

As we all know, PM Carney has been hitting us hard with infrastructure announcements one after another. Could be 50 billions for a port on Monday, 30 billions for a pipeline here or there on Tuesday, a new multi-billion investment announced every day of the week... so far so good! Nothing wrong with making announcents! In fact, if it wasn't for endless announcements, it's hard to see our ruling class get much of anything accomplished, so at least Mark is giving me hope. After weeks of boffo front-page announcements, Carney saved the best for last. At the weekend he announces the cherry-on-top! In order to help his wish list achieve reality, he will impose a 12 month limit on the approval and permitting process for everything on his wish list! Had to do a double-take and then another one. Oh... Mark, Mark, Mark... I guess when you've spent your entire life serving the Epstein class, you might be a little out of touch. Farmers in Ontario are already raising hell over the super-duper $20 billion high-speed-rail line to Windsor. There are thousands of scientists and engineers whose entire livelihoods are based on ensuring development conforms to our environmental, safety, and human rights standards. Quite aside from that professional community, tree-huggers of all stripes will be up in arms over the abrogation of a regulatory regime they've been fighting for for generations. And PM Carney seems blissfully ignorant of the evolution of Indigenous rights in the modern era. Our First Nations enjoy de facto veto power over anything across, over, under or nearby their treaty lands or any lands that remain in dispute. Here's the reality, Mr Prime Minister. That pretty much puts the kybosh on most of your wish list for the next fifty years.
