Canada to strengthen sovereignty by selling infrastructure to US hedge funds
Ever since Mafia Don started tossing around those hurtful jokes about us being nothing more than the 51st state, Canadians have been seriously pissed off. We're determined to push back - elbows up! Yup, we gonna teach Trump a lesson! To that end, our PM has convened a conclave of the 100 biggest money managers in the world in Toronto, the "Toronto Investment Summit."
Ponder that for a moment. Mark Carney spent his entire life pre-politics keeping the world safe for billionaires, either from the exec suites at Goldman Sachs or Brookfield or as central banker, first in Canada, then in England. He'd be strictly first-names-only with the world's top money managers. I'd like to know how many of them are American. 75%? 90%? I'd like some clarification on that, because remember, we're supposedley doing this to assert our sovereignty.
And PM Carney isn't shy about tossing around some mighty juicy carrots to entice the money managers. How about 100% mega-deduction for capital investments in Year One! Oh ya baby! That'll teach Trump! And we're opening up our ports and airports to foreign investment to strengthen our sovereignty! What's really puzzling is how this is being presented in our media, especially our government propaganda outfit. I would like to think that actual jounalism would at least ask a few questions... like how many of the world's top money managers are members of Mafia Don's Mar-a-Lago Club?
