Why do guys have to talk so much shit about their sex lives?
A couple days ago I was having lunch with an old pal, a guy I've known since we were high school drop-outs who found ourselves on the factory floor at one of the big plants they used to have in Guelph back in the pre-NAFTA era. I wouldn't say we're tight, but our paths cross from time to time and we'll get together for lunch and a few pints.
So Buddy's plant shut down a few years ago and he's buttering his bread with a gig here and a gig there; he's actually living Todd Hirsch's gig economy!
After the job disappeared to Mexico, it didn't take long for his marriage to fall apart. Yup, sad to say, a lot of gals find a regular pay-cheque is a real turn-on in a partner.
No pay-cheque? No partner!
So the marriage falls apart, there's an acrimonious divorce, and Buddy's world, in the space of a year or so, shrivelled from a house overlooking the Humber River and a cottage up north to an apartment somewhere out in the boonies.
But he is full of hope! Thinks he's going to have a date with a hottie he met on the Ashley Madison website!
Tells me he's gonna have a weekend of wild sex!
Ya, right...
At our age you're maybe gonna have fifteen minutes of wild sex, and after that, well, lets just hope you brought a book along to read or something... a wild weekend has lots of time left after those first fifteen minutes.
I don't even have the heart to tell him those hotties at Ashley Madison are all fake...

The totalitarian state hovering overhead is beyond anything Orwell could have imagined
Picture this; virtually the entirety of the populace voluntarily give over ALL their personal information to "social media" sites like Facebook etc.
Facebook etc. give over the entirety of their data base to DHS.
Orwell could not have imagined such a thing... well, he actually did imagine such a thing.
Are we there yet?
Oh ya!...
And then some.

Ashley Madison hack reveals cheater site was faking profiles on an industrial scale
No doubt there's plenty of folks in Ottawa who cheat on their spouses.
Some of them may even use the services of the cheatin' heart website Ashley Madison.
But when twenty percent of the population is allegedly registered with Ashley, you know that there's more hanky panky involved here than what goes on between the sheets.
Looks like Ashley been cheatin' on the investors!
And the clients too!

How "free trade" is helping Ashley Madison get money for nothing in South Korea
When the government of Canada announced the Canada South Korea Free Trade Agreement they probably weren't thinking about the free trade in spouses that Ashley Madison specializes in.
Nevertheless, Ashley Madison is first into the docket pressing a claim against South Korea for lost profit opportunities. Seems those dowdy Koreans are so backward that they have laws making adultery illegal, if you can imagine such a thing!
The Koreans voluntarily signed on to this trade deal (although it has yet to be ratified, so maybe this case will give them pause for thought) so they shouldn't be surprised. The main purpose of Free Trade Agreements is to enshrine in law the principle that corporate rights trump the rights of sovereign nations.
As for the dozens of times Trade Minister Fast has announced the "thousands of jobs for hard-working Canadians" that will ensue from this deal, that's what's known in the PR biz as a "whopper."
From us they buy raw materials and beef.
From them we buy cars and manufactured goods.
There's a lot more high-value jobs in manufacturing than in modern coal-mining or beef farming. And by the way, the tariffs we charge on their cars will be eliminated over two years - they'll take off the tariffs on our beef over 15 years.
Any jobs created by this deal will be in Korea... with the exception of the lawyers working for Ashley Madison!
