Hark, the war drums beckon!

Big Steve and a gaggle of like-minded neocon has-beens wasted no time offering Mafia Don props on a job well done.

Trump abrogates the Iran deal on Tuesday and Harper & Company have their rancid diatribe in the New York Times the very next day!

Only the greatest leader since Moses was quicker off the mark than this sorry lot; he managed to launch a major missile attack on Syria even before Harper et al launched their bought and paid for op-ed!

And who can blame him? After Trump's announcement of the US embassy move, after Trump delivers the imbecile MBS to the Israeli camp, after Trump unilaterally dumps the JCPOA agreement, Bibi obviously sees green lights all over the place.

No wonder they love Trump in Israel!

Harper is concerned that Iran "oppresses its people" and "commits violence against the people of Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon..."

Hmm... does Iran oppress its people more than, say, Saudi Arabia?

Is the war on Yemen not a Saudi project?

Has not the US committed far greater violence against the people of Iraq than has Iran?

And no one has inflicted more death and destruction on Lebanon than our good friends, the Israelis.

Even though fifteen of nineteen 9/11 terrorists were Saudis, and none were Iranian, Saudi Arabia is our ally, and Iran is the enemy?

But forget all these trifles! The free world must come together as one and teach those uppity Persians a lesson they won't soon forget.

I'll bet old Eric Arthur Blair is enjoying the greatest stiffy of his life, even though he's been in the grave nearly seventy years!

Uncle Sam's adventures in Africa

The recent media kerfuffle over US troops in Niger didn't so much concern US troops in Niger as it did the Trump condolence call to one of the widows of the servicemen who died there. As such, the "story" wasn't about US troops in Africa, but about whether or not the POTUS is an a-hole, as if the answer to that question is somehow inconclusive and the matter requires further debate.

A host of your top-end US politicos have since come forward to claim that they had no idea there were US troops in Niger. According to some of the stuff I've been reading (admittedly on non MSM sites) the only country in Africa that does NOT have US boots on the ground is Zimbabwe. Not to worry; the National Endowment for Democracy (that US government "non-government organization" - and a shout-out to Orwell is in order here) have been busy beavers there, tilling the soil to prepare for the inevitable demise of the crotchety Bobby Mugabe.

According to General Thomas Waldhauser, AFRICOM boss, the US has an "enduring interest" in Niger and is there to fight terrorists and create stability.

Of course!

Just like they'll soon be fighting terror and bringing stability to the entire continent!

They've been bringing stability to Somalia for forty years now, with underwhelming results. One could argue that Somalia enjoys far less stability today than it had when America first started gifting them stability, but that's another place where the US has "enduring interests."

Just like they'll soon have enduring interests all across Africa!

And might these "interests" have anything to do with the best interests of Africans?

Not likely. After all, Uncle Sam's regime doesn't run the USA in the best interests of 350 million Americans; it's unlikely that they've got the best interests of 1.2 billion Africans in mind.

No, General Waldhauser is talking about the enduring interests of America's one percent, the clique of war-profiteers and their acolytes who are determined to rule the world.

While I didn't notice much in the way of congratulatory reportage, AFRICOM celebrated it's tenth anniversary this month.

They're just getting started...

The totalitarian state hovering overhead is beyond anything Orwell could have imagined

Picture this; virtually the entirety of the populace voluntarily give over ALL their personal information to "social media" sites like Facebook etc.

Facebook etc. give over the entirety of their data base to DHS.

Orwell could not have imagined such a thing... well, he actually did imagine such a thing.

Are we there yet?

Oh ya!...

And then some.

New US bumboy in Kabul allows US troops to stay after they leave

There's an Orwellian mind-fuck for ya...

This Ashraf Ghani chappie is obviously our cup of tea; check out his comments when his new government signed an agreement that will allow US troops to stay after they technically leave; "Today Afghanistan has regained its sovereignty as a power."

Huh?

You regain your sovereign power by signing a deal that allows the occupiers to stay in your country, totally immune from your country's legal system?.. oh my, there's an Oxfordshire village cemetery got a spinning corpse with a great big boner right now...

Meanwhile Barry O sees this as an "historic day," as well he might.

In fact, he's looking forward to cementing "an enduring partnership that strengthens Afghan sovereignty, stability, unity, and prosperity."

Just like it has for the past 13 years...

As Michelle Obama is busy preaching virtues of internet freedom to China, NSA is busy spying on Chinese internet traffic

Holy cow, that's enough to give long-dead Orwell a boner!

The folks at German news magazine Der Spiegel claim that the NSA has been vacuuming up the data trail left not only by the government of China but the upper echelon of China's "private sector" as well, especially China's answer to Microsoft, Huawei.

Frankly, I think they get the lower echelon as well. In fact, I think it's more than obvious that they vacuum up EVERYTHING!

Maybe that's why we sent Michelle over there, with her kids and her mom. Nobody gonna suspect that little family unit of being up to no good!

Virgin Mary more popular than Jesus informal survey shows

Junior isn't a particularly handy lad but he's quite the intellectual.

Me personally, I'm not that often accused of being the sharpest bulb in the toolshed, and if it wasn't for the striking physical resemblance I'd have doubts about Junior's paternity. Definitely got me beat in the what's upstairs department.

Not that he's done much with it. Spent three or four years sporadically attending high school. Came away with three credits. I got my hopes up once when he asked me where he might find a copy of some obscure Orwell essay.

"Wow!" I exclaimed, "what course is that for?"

"Oh, that's not for a course. I'm just trying to read everything Orwell ever wrote."

He spent those four years mostly chit-chatting with various guidance counsellors about Orwell, the history of jazz, and whether or not marijuana really does impact the development of the teen-age brain. So we're having a debate about religion generally and Christianity in particular. I figure after the brilliant job Bill Maher did debunking Christianity in his film Religulous there couldn't be too many left. Junior claims there's all kinds of folks still true believers.

We came up with an experiment. If we concocted some bizarre Christian artifact, would there be buyers for it? If so, then obviously not enough people have seen the movie.

Aside from being an intellectual Junior has a bit of an artistic bent. After over-toasting a couple of slices of Wonderbread he went to work with the butter knife. On one piece of toast he scraped away the burnt stuff to leave a likeness of the Virgin Mary. On the other, a likeness of Jesus. Then he put them both up for sale on e-bay.

The results were fascinating. Not only are there still lots of true believers out there, but they're willing to part with real money to buy burnt toast! After a week of frenzied bidding the Holy Mother went for $2,115 to a collector in Argentina. Jesus' toast went for a mere $74 to a bidder in New Jersey.

We've sent a copy of the bidding records to the Vatican for comment. No reply yet.
