Epic fail: Green Party paints itself as anti-Black and anti-Jewish all in one go!

I had high hopes for Green Party politics when they first emerged as a formal political party in Germany back in the Petra Kelly days.

Petra Kelly styled herself an "ecofeminist," which has a cool ring to it even forty years later, and the political potential of green politics fired up a lot of imaginations back in the day.

Alas, forty years on, Green parties everywhere are spinning their tires on wet grass. The German greens are a NATO-positive eco-fascist movement now. And the Canadian version is busy consigning itself into oblivion even as I write these words.

The Green party in Canada was always the preserve of political dilettantes, at least in the upper echelons. Their modest grassroots very occasionally managed to elect someone to parliament. When Annamie Paul was elected national leader last year, I originally saw grounds for optimism.

Paul was the first leader of a national political party in Canada who was Black.

She was also the first Jewish woman to lead a national political party!

They elected a Black Jewish woman. What could be more progressive than that? To my mind, they'd hit a three-run homer in the virtue-signalling sweepstakes! Don't diss virtue signalling. How do you think Justin got elected? Why do you think he's miles ahead in the polls now?

Yet, a series of unforced errors have left the Greens absolutely irrelevant.

Why and how did this happen?

Annamie Paul - no longer invisible

Only a week ago I was accusing our legacy media of ignoring Canada's only Black leader of a national political party. Seems I was a little ahead of myself.

Today she's on the front page of The Globe and Mail and all over the CBC.

A theme in her current rise to prominence is that her invisibility was the result of sexism and racism. That conveniently allows us to ignore issues of party politics and events surrounding the defection of Green MP Jenica Atwin.

Recall that Atwin ostensibly left the party because she felt it was too pro-Israel. By the time she crossed the floor she had repudiated her criticisms of Israel, the very issue that caused her to leave the Green caucus in the first place!

That's the kind of unprincipled malleability we value in politicians. I'm sure she'll feel very much at home in Justin's Liberal Party.

New Brunswick grabs the Democratic Process by the ass

Well, this is rude.

Fourteen NDPers jump ship en masse for the Greenies!

It's a bad day for Jagmeet and a good one for whatsername over there at the Green Party.

And what is her name?... Elizabeth Green? Greene? It's Elizabeth something or other, I'm pretty sure...

Whatever it is, it's got about as much traction in the media universe as Jagmeet's brand.

Don't look this gift horse in the mouth, Liz.

Old boys club circles the wagons to keep new girl out of the election debate

I've been watching the Canadian election debate, brought to me by the national newspaper of record.

Absent from the debate is the leader of the Green Party. She won the last debate, which is why the old boys club made sure that she was excluded from this one.

Killing Cupcake

My friend Martin is responsible for this.

Martin is a back-to-the-land kinda guy. Ran for the Greens in the last election.

Me and a couple of dozen other people voted for him.

He didn't make it into parliament.

Cupcake was a sheep who thought she was a dog. The reason Cupcake thought she was a dog is all because of Martin.

I'm fully acquainted with animals who think they're something they're not. Once when Junior was little we brought home a almost-hatched chicken egg when school let out for the summer vacation. Set that egg under my desk lamp. Sure enough, it hatched!

Once you get over the miracle of reproduction, you gotta ask yourself, now what? So I've got this tiny baby chicken following me all around the house, and that's exactly what I'm thinking...

Now what?

So we go to the chicken hatchery down in Hanover. I want to buy one or two baby chickens. The folks there look at me like I'm fucked in the head. They're used to selling baby chickens to big-time chicken farmers by the tens of thousands.

And here's this dumb-fuck standing there who wants to buy one or two baby chickens?

Whereas I hatched a baby chicken who thought it was a human, Martin raised a sheep to think it was a dog. Cupcake was rejected by its sheep mama, but glory be, it was accepted by the family dog! So from its earliest times, Cupcake followed the dog around. It came in the house with the dog, went out to play with the dog, fetched sticks with the dog...

When the dog ran off and had to be repatriated by the SPCA, Cupcake was right there with her!

When the dog was snoozing away the afternoon on the living room couch, Cupcake was snoozing away on the other end of the couch!

Trouble was, Cupcake didn't remain a cute baby lamb. Cupcake got bigger than the family dog. Suddenly, Cupcake leaving a pile of sheep turds on the living room rug wasn't funny any more.

Cupcake had to go.

And just this week, she did.

I'm hoping for an invite to the BBQ.
