Paul Ryan's "white selfie" proves that America is a cesspool of racism

Well, what do you expect from a guy who has, ever so reluctantly, endorsed Donald Trump?



Yup, there's happy Paul and a whole lotta happy white folks!

Which just proves yet again that the entire edifice of GOP politics is racist to the core.

Which kinda makes you wonder about images like this one;



Ya, I know, it's hard to reconcile this photo of Reverend Al and Mr. Trump yucking it up after the Hillary camp has exposed Trump as the most racist racist of all time.

Honestly, Reverend Al, what were you thinking?...

But as a Canadian, I would caution my fellow Canadians to not get too smug. We too have allowed systemic racism to taint our smug and self-contented little universe of diversity and equality.

Take this outrage for example. Back in 2014, one of Canada's top schools dispensed honorary degrees to ten super-high achievers. Oddly enough, every one was a white male!

And let's not forget the front page feature in the Globe and Mail last year wherein we learned that the primary movers and shakers in the West Coast tech scene where all..... white males!

So maybe it's not Cruz but Ryan who is the secret Canadian?

Uppity Ray Nagin put in his place

We've said before that the persecution of Ray Nagin was politically motivated pay-back.

The news that Nagin was sentenced to ten years on that trumped up corruption case is intended to make an example of him. Although the actual "corruption" was laughably trivial by traditional Louisianan political standards, Nagin's real crime was standing up to the white establishment in Washington during the Katrina crisis.

Every would-be Black politician is intended to take a lesson from this example.

American society is racist through and through

Spare me the faux outrage over Donald Sterling.

All the usual equality entrepreneurs like Al Sharpton are weighing in on the issue.

Fact is, 150 years after emancipation, white folks go to college while niggers go to jail.

Which is not to denigrate the achievements of those black folks who get to college, or to the NBA. But if one thing is true in America today, it is this; no matter how steep the climb from nothing to middle class "respectability", it's twice as steep for black folks.

So a white fat-cat makes some untoward remarks about black people, and everybody acts like this is some sort of deviation from a civilized norm. It isn't. It's merely a deviation from the norm that we don't talk about our systemic racism in public.

The NBA has produced more black multi-millionaires than any other business venture in American history. Maybe the NFL or MLB gives them a run for their money...  Let's celebrate that, but as we do, let's remember that's the exception.

The unmitigated stupidity of Sterling's remarks put paid to the concept of meritocracy. As far as I can tell, his Clippers are entirely dependent for their success on the black folks both in the stands and on the court.

As a not-too-bright white fat-cat, Donald Sterling may be biting the hand that feeds him, but what his racist ruminations reveal is nothing out of the ordinary in contemporary America.

Hundreds pour into streets demanding "Justice for Trayvon"

Even Obama's unprecedented remarks yesterday failed to motivate the masses to take to the streets. Justice for Trayvon rallies were sparsely attended across the country in spite of the presence of numerous high-profile celebrity types.

The Trayvon Martin case has from the beginning galvanized the media and the usual human rights entrepreneurs into a frenzy of fear-mongering.

There are many manifestations of America's systemic racism visible to those willing to see them, and none of them get the sustained saturation coverage this isolated killing of one black teen by an over-zealous wannabe cop has.

If CNN gave the kind of coverage they've expended on Zimmerman to poverty, homelessness, employment discrimination, the failed schools in black neighborhoods, and the outrageous over-representation of blacks in the criminal justice system, some of these issues might get traction.

CNN didn't, and they don't.

Every one of these issues is an infinitely greater threat to the welfare of black Americans than George Zimmerman was, and most black Americans understand that.

Which might be why they're avoiding these Obama-endorsed, media promoted "Trayvon Vigils" in droves.

N-word nds Paula Deen's career

Hard to believe! As a white gal growing up in small-town Georgia in the 50's the n-word might have passed Paula's lips on occasion? Who can even imagine such a thing?

Alas, the neo-Puritans who live for these controversies are making sure that Paula pays the price. The n-word is the property of avante-guard (black) rappers and (black) film-makers, and all unauthorized use of said word hurts the feelings of black people generally and enrages the self-appointed white do-gooders who are determined to enforce politically correct speech.

Enforcing politically correct speech is a profoundly critical mission. It allows vast swaths of white America to feel virtuous in their imagined liberalism. Both the n-word and those who would use it are banished to the dustbin of history.

As long as we do not have our ears offended with the grating vulgarity of the n-word, we can comfortably put out of mind the fact that 150 years after emancipation there remain some striking differences between black America and white America.

Black America lags white America by 15 percentage points in high school graduation rates. That goes up to 20 points at the college level.

Black America is twice as likely to be unemployed, and black pay lags white pay by 25 to 30%.

Black America is six times as likely to go to prison.

And surely it comes as no surprise that, after living a lifetime in a society in denial about its systemic racism, those living in a black skin die sooner.

But as long as nobody uses the n-word, everything is hunky dory!
