Pretty much the entire world has by now acknowledged that Libya is a bit of a mess. Yes, our NATO rebels got rid of the evil dictator, but now what?
From a country with the highest standard of living in Africa Libya is now an anarchic state ruled by unaccountable militias.
Be that as it may, there are at least two idiots in the Senate who see the Libyan fiasco as a model for how America should intervene in Syria.
Here's Republican Senator Lindsey Graham; " I think the Libyan model could serve us well."
And just to prove that stupidity is non-partisan, here's Democrat Richard Blumenthal; "...Libya is a model for how we can aid rebels."
True enough.
It's even a better case study in why we shouldn't.
Dear D. Neumann, I'm a producer on BBC World Have Your Say on World Service radio, a conversation programme that gathers journalists and bloggers from around the world. I came across a past blog post of yours about Vladimir Putin and thought you might be interested in taking part in our topic tody "Is Putin one of the world's great leaders." Would you be up for taking part?
