The word is out that the USA has met its 2016 quota of admitting 10,000 Muslim refugees.
That's approximately 10,000 too many for a lot of folks, and you know, I can't say I blame them for feeling that way.
All told, about 2.5 million Americans served in Iraq and Afghanistan. They know better than anyone what we did to those people. If you're one of the many who snapped souvenir pics of naked Iraqi men piled high in humiliation at Abu Ghraib, would you want to risk the possibility that one of the survivors is now a refugee and has moved in down the block?
I didn't think so.
And isn't it inevitable, especially in an Arab culture that's at least as eye-for-eye as the Hatfields and the McCoys, that some poor refugee from Falluja, who lost his family to an American drone strike or an American Hellfire missile or just the random target shooting of some random American "contractor," might want to settle the score once he washes up in America with refugee status?
Well, they're all around you now...
But there is good news!
Here's how to get those people to stop hating our freedoms; stop bombing them and invading them and killing their kids and overthrowing their leaders and stealing their resources.
That should do it!

Jihadi Steve declares war on radical Islam
Big Steve opened his trap yesterday, and sure enough, stupid shit came out.
Steve was thinking aloud about what kind of monsters could possibly carry out the cold-blooded murder of a bunch of harmless cartoonists at Charlie Hebdo. Seems those international baddies have declared war on us, in fact, on all countries and people that don't think and act as they want us to; people like ourselves who value freedom, openness, and tolerance.
Yup, when you hear PM Harper tell the tale, the Nations of Virtue were just sitting around, being virtuous, when, out of the blue, a bunch of bloodthirsty towel-heads took a dislike to us!
To be honest, Steve, it seems to me that those folks would be more than happy to mind their own business, it we would just leave them alone. I don't recall any Islamic nation ever bombing Canada, yet we were beyond proud to be raining down bombs on Libya... oh, sorry! Those weren't bombs, they were "projectiles of democracy!"
Of course we were not acting alone; we were joined by a number of other NATO states, none of which was remotely threatened by Gadaffi either.
There are of course other outrages etched in the collective memories of those evil-doers who have the big hate on for our freedoms. Long before NATO destroyed Libya, we destroyed Iraq, which act, incidentally, birthed al Qaeda, and our lengthy run in Afghanistan has set that country back several generations, and we are currently working our magic in Syria and Iraq again!
So I don't know where you get the idea that those people aren't pissed off for good reasons, Steve. And you know what? I think if you or your brother or father or son was one of the folks in this picture, you'd be pissed off too!

They hate us for a lot more than our freedom.

They hate us for our freedom to rape their children
Turns out W only told us half the story when he famously remarked that "terrorists hate us for our freedom."
Seems the rest of the story has been effectively suppressed until now.
This isn't going to cause a lot of outrage in the Arab world; they've lived with their outrage for years. That's why ISIS has no trouble finding recruits. This story has been old news in the Arab street for ten years.
It does however come at an awkward time for America's reinvigorated war on Iraq and Syria. It's not so much awkward for the US as it is for America's Arab allies.
It's really tough to sell your illegitimate government in Jordan or Bahrain or Saudi Arabia (to mention just a few) to your people when you're up to your neck in colluding with the world bully who steals your resources and rapes your children.

ISIS rapidly gaining mainstream support throughout Arab world
This story about football fans chanting their support for Islamic State at a match in Morocco should give us pause.
But it won't.
Instead, today we are treated to yet another press release from Canada's know-nothing Foreign Minister, Baird the Bombastic. ISIL is just a gang of terrorists, don't you know, who are bent on raping and pillaging and slaughtering anyone who stands in their way as they seek to spread their hateful ideology throughout Iraq and Syria... which apparently reinforces our moral duty to stop their murderous rampage, which we will do in concert with "our allies."
That would be these folks:

Sorry Mr. Baird, your claim to the moral high ground rings a little hollow. We may have forgotten Abu Ghraib here in the Nations of Virtue, but you can bet they haven't in Iraq.
The reason Islamic State finds a receptive audience is because at long last the Arab street has a champion that promises to put the last hundred years of humiliation behind them.
In other developments, Baird also announced today that he is jetting to Kuwait and Saudi Arabia to discuss our "strong and growing relationships" with the ruling elites of those flourishing democracies.
But it won't.

I've got a torture film and a GTO
You've got to admit that Iggy had America nailed.
Way before Abu Ghraib and Gitmo.
But you know where he got it wrong?
The GTO.
Torture lives but the GTO is dead.
That latest iteration of the GTO, some unseemly import from Australia, didn't exactly rain glory on the brand.
From the early days of the 389 tri-power, the GTO meant something. It symbolized an insecure America showing the bulge in her pants.
The Ruskies had put a man into orbit before America. They were way ahead of us in the missile race, or so we were lead to believe.
But we had the GTO and they had what?
The GTO let America feel good about America long before Ronald Reagan whupped the Commies in Grenada.
Fifty years later the GTO is dead.
And Obama can't figure out how to close Gitmo.
