Everybody knows that the ascent of Generalissimo al-Sisi to the big chair in Egypt could never have happened without the connivance of the Nations of Virtue, and especially the US.
For all the clap-trap about "democracy" that spews non-stop out of Washington, it was clear that the election of Morsi was one of those aberrations of democracy that could not be countenanced by the West.
Democracy is great so long as the right people are elected.
Electing the Muslim Brotherhood was not what we expected.
Democracy in Egypt has been effectively rejected.
And der Fuhrer Herr al-Sisi is by the West protected...
We shall see now how far Frau Merkel will push against the wishes of Washington. Honouring an Egyptian arrest warrant in Germany dishonours German sovereignty and independence, especially when that warrant comes from an illegitimate regime steeped in everything antithetical to the supposed virtues of the Nations of Virtue.
Freedom of expression.
Democracy.
The rule of law.
Good luck tomorrow, Mr. Mansour... much hangs in the balance.

Ukraine PM Yatsenyuk offers up magic spectacles so we can all see invisible Russian forces fighting in Ukraine
When Ukraine PM Arseniy "Yats" Yatsenyuk peers through his magical glasses, he sees entire Russian military divisions fighting in Ukraine, divisions that nobody else has ever seen.
Nor have they ever been photographed, shown up on omnipresent 24/7 NATO satellite surveillance, or made themselves visible in any way.
But when you look through Yats' magical eyewear, they are crystal clear!
Presumably these top-secret specs will be made available to Frau Merkel and Hollande the Conqueror this weekend, so they can see for themselves the gruesome toll the invisible Russian invasion is taking in Ukraine.
Or more likely, Yats just hammered another nail into what's left of his credibility.

US anti-Putin campaign will fracture NATO
There are growing fissures in the very foundations of NATO, the Western alliance that has been floundering, lost and without a focus, since the fall of the USSR.
French President Francois Hollande declared yesterday that the anti-Russian sanctions need to end. Political rivals both to the left and to the right of Hollande have been saying that all along, and the more that the French economy suffers by being at the pointy end of a self-serving American policy of engineering regime change in Russia, the more Hollande will disengage from the NATO bandwagon.
In Germany, Frau Merkel is still talking the talk, but opinion polls reveal she is speaking for herself, not for her country. Her position is building a welcome unity between bosses and workers in Germany!
In Italy, a similar view prevails. That's three very senior EU economies and critical NATO nations that are getting tired of American jingoism.
Turkey, the only Muslim NATO member and a crucial ally of the US for both its Middle East and Russia-Ukraine ambitions, just agreed to a pipe-line deal with the evil Putin.
Absent those four critical member states, NATO would look like a very different animal indeed. As a military alliance that once made some sense, it has been desperately casting about for busy-work for the last twenty years. In the process, it has become little more than a handmaid to American hegemonic designs.
NATO is long overdue for the dustbin of history!

Hollande declares Euro-crisis over!
Which came as startling news to 350 million Europeans!
Hollande made his declaration during a visit to Japan. Assured by his top advisers that the Japanese did not have access to the internet, and that no one in Japan could read the English/French/German newspapers, he went out on a limb thinking he might be able to slip this whopper past his hosts.
This is but the latest example of the French President's inner circle giving him a bum steer. It was the court philosopher BHL who convinced the naive waif Hollande that invading Mali would be a good move.
Hollande fully believed he would "earn his spurs," as the persuasive Levy so seductively put it.
Not only did he fail to win any spurs, now he cannot figure out how to get out of Mali!
Nor does he have any clue how to turn around an economy that continues to shed jobs and accumulate debt. He remains totally befuddled about how to escape Merkel's austerity enema when in reality it would take merely two words; nein danke.
But it might do him good to visit a sovereign nation that doesn't do austerity and doesn't take orders from Merkel. If such independence is possible for Japan, perhaps it is possible for France too.

Busy days for Democracy
Yesterday Democracy gave Frau Merkel a poke in the eye with a narrow loss in the regional election in Lower Saxony. Her boy in the region, David McAllister, was turfed out by one seat.
Now I know if you don't follow German politics closely (which I don't) the above makes no sense. Right away you are dumfounded.
"McAllister" you ask? This is a German election? Yup, it's a German election, and believe it or not, McAllister used to be touted as a possible successor to the Merkel throne. Or bidet.
How bizarre would that have been? You'd be reading news stories about David McAllister meeting with other world leaders, and you'd never even know it was the leader of Germany they're talking about.
Maybe this loss is what she was anticipating when Merkel said multiculturalism has been a failure!
And if you think David McAllister is a stain on the master race, check out Philipp Roesler. The entire Prussian aristocracy must be spinning in their graves whenever his face shows up on the TV news in that really warm place where they are watching it.
Merkel may think multi-culti is dead, but Democracy remains undecided.
Having finished her work among the heathens Democracy then took a quick trip to the Holy Land intending to guide Moses Netanyahu to his third term today.
Alas, things did not go as planned. Every now and then the masses rise up and give Democracy a black eye. Netanyahu is now rumored to be casting about among the so-called centrists for coalition partners.
There is no wilier political animal on this planet than Netanyahu when he's trying to form a coalition. Anything could happen. He could reinvent himself in a thousand different ways.
Those four Hadash seats might come in handy. Multi-culti may not be dead after all.
