The anti-China rhetoric in US media is downright scary. We're in high Yellow Peril dudgeon!
If nothing else, this artificial hate campaign serves to take the eye off the unseemly haste with which America's ruling elite stuffed their pockets at the public trough under the guise of "helping the people."
Oh, they're helping "the people" alright...
At least their own people. The rich.
I was walking old Boomer on the Kinch Sideroad this morning. It's one of those country non-roads that's been subject to "no maintenance" signage since the Kinch family moved away thirty years ago or so. Their old house is slowly collapsing on itself.
There's a big old Dodge 4X4 coming the other way. I respectfully step six feet off the road to allow it to pass. Instead of passing, the driver stops and rolls down the window. It's a couple, maybe late fifties, early sixties, and the first words out of the driver's mouth were, "we're really bored!"
No shit, pal!
Anyway, we had a nice chat about hunting and fishing in the neighbourhood. The last thing he said as he was pulling away was, "I'm thinking maybe we went a little overboard on this Covid stuff."
Indeed, but that's not something you're allowed to say in polite company these days.
If you're getting a little bored with your own coronavacation, here's some recreational reading for you. I haven't vetted every last detail, but as far as I can tell, those experts and their quotes are real.

After 241 years, Uncle Sam still has head up arse
Figured I'd go to the patriotic network and see if I can glean what's on the minds of patriotic Americans this Independence Day. I wasn't disappointed. Fox News producer Steve Kurtz has a few timely thoughts. Along with the predictable clap-trap about the constitution and freedom of speech, and how American militarism has made the world a safer place etc., I found this gem:
7-11
Life is hard enough, so it's nice to know there's a place to go at 3 am, even if it's just for cigarettes and lottery tickets.
How true! Yup, nowhere else in history has anyone had the freedom to buy cigarettes and lottery tickets at 3 am! Shows yet again how much we take for granted, doesn't it!
Steve, you are truly a living testimonial to America's education system.
Elsewhere at Fox, Dr. Heather Wilson and General David Goldfein give themselves a shout-out for the great work the USAF has been doing in the Middle East.
Linger over that last paragraph. The US has been "in continuous combat for 26 years..."
Doing what?
"Providing stability..."
Hey, maybe after another 26 years of continuous combat the folks in Baghdad and Damascus will enjoy the freedom to step out for cigarettes and lottery tickets at 3 am!
God bless America!

Five years after we liberated Libya, we're liberating them again!
Yup, more US bombs to liberate the people of Libya!
I have a hunch we're gonna keep liberating those benighted folks as long as they've got a single drop of oil in the ground.
Note that we're specifically liberating Sirte, supposedly an ISIS stronghold. But, check out the last few lines of this story from Al Jazeera from a few days ago. Sirte was already liberated!
I have another hunch that the story behind the story is that things aren't going according to script for America's bumboy du jour, General Haftar. It's now come out that at least four of the Nations of Virtue, US, UK, France, and Italy, all have boots on the ground in support of the good General.
You will recall that General Haftar cut short a cosy twenty-year retirement in Virginia to return to his homeland and fight for... the people? ...the oil? ...the USA?
Nobody knows... but it's clear that when General Haftar calls in missile strikes, the USAF answers the call.

US Air Force now flying support missions for al Qaeda in Syria
Yup, that al Qaeda, our worst enemies who brought down the twin towers etc.
I was a little confused about the tale of the al Raqqa Brigades fighting ISIS in Kobani.
So I did a little research.
Far from "coming out of nowhere," ISIS was a well documented presence in Raqqa a year and a half ago.
Here's a nice over-view of the infighting among various jihadi groups that clearly shows that the al Raqqa Brigades abandoned the Free Syrian Army and aligned themselves with al Qaeda.
Here's a story that suggests the fall of Raqqa happened with the connivance of the Assad regime.
The city of Raqqa was the scene of much internecine combat between al-Qaeda aligned jihadis and ISIS factions. ISIS eventually prevailed.
That fight has in the last month been transferred to Kobani, where ISIS and the al Qaeda factions are again fighting for supremacy.
This battle is being sold in Western media as a Kurds vs. Islamic State struggle. In reality it's a continuation of the battle between ISIS and al Qaeda, in which the Kurds are backing al Qaeda.
And so is the USAF.
The USAF is now al Qaeda's Air Force!
