Well, the good guys are about to put the boots to the bad guys in Mosul.
And that's a good thing, of course!
Read around a bit and you'll find plenty of stories that claim thousands of Mosul jihadis have already been spirited to Raqqa in Syria. By the US allies.
Yup, no point killing them in Iraq if they can be useful in making regime change in Syria,
I suspect the Mosul operation will go swimmingly well.

Putin attacks Iran
Turn off the news for an hour, and whoopsie, you missed another bout of Putin's aggression!
Sure, those missiles were meant for Syria...
But we all know, don't we, after being told and told and told again about Putin's plans for world domination by our mainstream news providers, that nothing Putin says is ever true.
Whereas every pronouncement from the White House or the Pentagon or the 101 bag-licking beltway think-tanks is the bona-fide gospel truth!
So what's Putin really up to here?
Obviously, with his recent invasion of Syria and last year's conquest of Ukraine already feathers in his cap, he's going after Iran next!
What I don't understand is why this would concern the Nations of Virtue? After all, we've been fantasizing about dropping missiles on Iran for decades!
So, even if those Russian missiles landing in Iran were nothing more than an accident, it's an accident that should be roundly applauded by the West.
Even if those stray missiles managed to miss any wedding parties out there in the Iranian boonies.

Wasn't that long ago that I couldn't imagine agreeing with Hillier on anything.
In fact, we've been a little harsh on Hillier in the past.
Real harsh.
But times change. People change... some people learn from their mistakes.
I'm beginning to believe General Hillier could very well be one of them.
Here he is today tying the refugee crisis to ISIS. He claims ISIS must be "decapitated."
America and her so-called coalition have been playing footsie with ISIS for more than a year with their bombing campaign. Far from decapitating them, they seem to be more interested in ensuring that ISIS gets the weapons they're constantly dropping for those imaginary "moderate" rebels.
You'd almost think that they were, in spite of the rhetoric, actually supporting ISIS in the interests of regime change in Syria.
That would explain the howls of indignation that have arisen in the past week as Putin decided to help the US coalition with their battle against terrorism.

REVEALED! Obama's Syria policy run by retards!

ABC gives you the straight scoop about what's happened to the first batch of "moderate rebels" that the US has trained up, at a cost of half a billion dollars.
Most international news sites have had this story for a couple of days, but it's finally found its way to America.
This program to train "moderate" Syrian rebels was supposed to have had 5,000 graduates by now.
They've had 54.
And if you read around a little, it quickly becomes apparent that all 54 are by now dead or have joined up with the bad guys...
Because nobody could see that coming!
And of course they've taken their training and their state-of-the-art US supplied weapons along with them.
Heads should roll, but instead, you'll get a whole wagonload of bullshit about terror and terrorism and terrorists and, by the way, this fight against terrorists might need American boots on the ground after all...
Just for a while.

Stop reading that senile liar Seymour Hersh and get the truth from the NYT and Wall Street Journal!
I was somewhat taken aback by Louis Proyect's character assassination of Seymour Hersh.
In fact, I had to read it a couple of times just to make sure I wasn't missing a level of irony or two, but no, Proyect seems to be serious.
Proyect styles himself "the unrepentant Marxist." Fair enough, I suppose, but it's a strange sort of Marxism that turns to the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal for its truths.
What we know for sure is that regime change in Syria is something that has been on the agenda of The Empire for many years. Many of the details of how that is playing out have been obscured by the fog of war.
I am reasonably confident that the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal have spread far more fog than Seymour Hersh.
And as for senility, Proyect's not that far behind Hersh in that trip down the Alzheimer highway.

Saudis to invest billions in training "good" Syrian rebels
Apparently the House of Saud aren't the sort to walk away from a bad bet.
Instead, they're gonna double down.
Fine!
The pouty Western powers don't like the AQ crew we've flooded Syria with, we'll flood the country with jihadists who have had the appropriate sensitivity training. In addition to teaching our recruits how to chant "death to America," we will henceforth teach them to sing "Jesus loves me."
That will show the world that our guys are not scary at all, and that even though they hate America they love Jesus.
That should do it!

"We got the proof Assad gassed his own people but we can't show anybody 'cause it's top secret!"
The usual war-mongers were making the Sunday morning propaganda rounds on the major networks to spread the word that Assad is beyond bad and only America can stop him.
He gassed his own people, don't you know, just like that Saddam fellow next door. John Kerry has tons of proof but he can't show us because it's secret.
The unbridled arrogance that underlies these discussions is something to behold. Listening to the pro-war punditocracy you would never guess that two of the last three American interventions have been utterly disastrous for America; the third was merely disastrous for the recipients of America's largesse.
The debate, such as it is, is predicated on the assumption that America is indeed the city on the hill; just a little closer to God than anyone else, and therefore has a divine right to make war on the less enlightened peoples of the planet on whatever whim seizes the power-brokers of the moment.
Assad has several strikes against him. While he's been a solid enough guy in terms of keeping the peace with the only democracy in the Middle East, that isn't enough.
He's at the same time been all too palsy with the Ayatollahs. You know the ones; they've been months away from a nuclear weapon for over twenty years now, which when they finally figure it out, they will supposedly use to nuke the Holy Land.
Although few outside Netanyahu's spin circle will speak such nonsense in public, it does seem to motivate a wide swath of AIPAC dependent congressmen and senators in the US, who in addition to their duties lobbying for the Holy Land, still harbor a grudge over the fact that the Iranian masses turned against the leader we had bestowed upon them in favor of a clique of Koran-thumpers who had been living in France for 25 years.
Obviously the ingrates need to be taught a lesson.
Then there is the matter of Assad's obnoxious geographic domination of some crucial pipeline routes. Look at a map. We (and by that I mean Western oil multi-nationals) need a guy running that strategic real estate who is 100% in our pocket, not merely some easy-going despot who is happy enough to take on a few "enhanced interrogation" assignments on our behalf but then goes right back to having tea in Tehran.
No, the jig is up for Assad; he's gassed his own people, don't you know... the US administration has the proof... they just can't show anybody.
We just have to trust them.

World Peace depends on America attacking Syria
I'll admit I've floated some sketchy nonsense from time to time, but certainly nothing like this monstrous imbecility.
Lieberman and Kyl spell it out for you; if America does not attack Assad now, the world will be overrun with bad people doing bad stuff.
Do you want that on your conscience?
Of course not. Therefore the only sensible thing to do is to call your congressman/senator/local paper and let them know that everyone you know and every decent American you can think of wholeheartedly supports the pending attack on Syria.

AIPAC and "civilized norms"
AIPAC's response to Obama's search for support for an assault on Syria is rich in irony.
By citing "civilized norms," the AIPAC crew invite examination of how the states of Israel and the USA conform to those civilized norms.
America has staged a series of illegal foreign adventures from Vietnam to Central America to Iraq to Libya and beyond. Those adventures have cost millions of innocent lives around the world. America has absolutely no claim to virtue in its conduct over the past 60 years.
Israel's heavy handed conduct in the occupied territories, her relentless policy of colonizing those territories, the outrageously disproportionate response to any real or imagined threat from any real or imagined enemy, all place that country firmly outside any so-called civilized norms.
Yet the America Israel Public Affairs Committee seek to justify an attack on a sovereign nation that has not attacked either of them on the grounds that Syria has violated civilized norms?
Utterly outrageous!

Heady days for the Oaf of Tobruk
Or "le twat," as he is known in France.
If you're at all acquainted with the folks at the so-called "Foreign Policy Initiative" you'll realize that "le twat" is in good company, namely the company of the same blood-thirsty gang of dipshits who couldn't get Bush Jr. into Iraq soon enough back when they called themselves the Project for a New American Century.
BHL is still chuffed by his glorious rout of the forces of darkness in Libya, and all things considered, finding the disco dandy's name on the list of the usual suspects prescribing more war for America should not come as a surprise.
What should be a surprise is that the man retains any credibility anywhere on the media spectrum. From the disaster that is Libya to the disaster that is Mali to the fact that Francios Hollande still doesn't have his spurs, how is it possible that any serious person cares what imbecilities tumble from the lips of the aging buffoon?

I was listening to Senator McCain pontificate on the grave disservice the first black president is doing to the nation by not invading Syria right away.
According to war monger #1, Obama is "undermining the credibility" of the US.
Where in the world does the Senator imagine that America retains any credibility?
The Saudi's have been going behind Uncle Sam's back to pursue their own agenda.
Ditto Qatar and the Gulf gang.
Nobody trusts Obama in the Holy Land.
The Generals in Egypt thumb their nose at America even as they keep taking the billions in aid.
India? Pakistan? China? Does any serious person believe America still has clout over there?
As for Russia, Putin's contempt for Obama is almost palpable, and no wonder.
Everybody in Russia understands who runs Russia.
Everybody in America knows Obama doesn't run America, let alone anything else.

US to bombard Damascus with tomatoes
Not just any tomatoes; Christian tomatoes.
Talking Christian tomatoes that praise the cross instead of Allah.
This is certainly a new twist in the thousand year history of crusades, and it promises to be a messy one.
While John McCain and his Likudnik extremist fringe will no doubt cast aspersions on the tomato attack, preferring instead the much more lethal Tomahawk attack, administration insiders speaking on condition of anonymity point out that at least Obama will be able to say he "did" something.
"Besides," the unnamed insider continued, "the spellings are somewhat similar, and tomatoes are red, which makes them an aesthetically appropriate response to the crossing of red lines."

NYT's Syria Salvation Strategy; let the towelheads kill each other off
The old sentimentalist Edward Luttwak has given some thought to solving Syria, and by golly, I think he could be onto something.
Writing in the New York Times, Luttwak makes the case that no matter who wins in Syria, America loses. Hence, the best strategy from an American point of view is to have the various sides fighting each other indefinitely;
By tying down Mr. Assad’s army and its Iranian and Hezbollah allies in a war against Al Qaeda-aligned extremist fighters, four of Washington’s enemies will be engaged in war among themselves and prevented from attacking Americans or America’s allies.
Sorry about your luck, People of Syria, but the big dog has decided to let you fight it out amongst one another, preferably till there's nobody left.
In the meantime, we'll be happy to sell weapons to the lot of you!

Should the US "take action" on Syria?
Seems to be a consensus building that Obama needs to "do something" given his statements last year stating that the use of chemical weapons constituted a red line.
There's a certain clique in Congress and the Senate, a bipartisan war party if you will, who seem determined to push Obama deeper into the Syrian travesty.
This is generally the same crew of jingoistic dickheads who lobbied for the Afghanistan invasion, the Iraq invasion, and the destruction of Libya. They have yet to realize that they're 0 for 3.
They're in denial.
In fact, they are firmly convinced that they are 3 for 3.
They have lost all credibility in the Middle East.
They still want the public to believe that America has been going from strength to strength.
The public knows better.

Evil Dictator crosses red line just in time to bury NSA domestic spying scandal
The "Assad used chemical weapons on his own people" story has been around for at least a year, kept bubbling on the back-burner, held in reserve till the day we're ready to play it.
Looks like Team Obama thinks now's the time.
The timing is rather too perfect.
Every media outlet in the "free world" is bracing us for the sheer, stark, regrettable, inevitability of the US military establishing a no-fly zone deep in Syrian territory.
The US can count on cheer-leading but little else from the NATO pack. Their militaries face budget woes and their people are sick of the entire empire act that keeps the world in turmoil.
Once Assad is gone, what next?
Surely the civil war that is now ongoing between the Syrian state and a largely foreign jihadist force will not end with the removal of Assad from the picture.
For their part, the Iranians have every reason to see the Americans bogged down for a long time. As in Iraq, the war-heads who dream up this deadly foolishness will end up weakening America and increasing the prestige of Iran.
By playing this hand now the Obama White House is letting the world know they are about to come out from behind the curtain. It starts like this and eventually there will be 101 great reasons why US boots need to be on the ground.
By a fortuitous coincidence thousands of American troops happen to be on the Syria-Jordan border already.
All that talk about domestic spying and privacy laws can be conveniently forgotten...
