Another blistering hot day in these parts, so me and the Farm Manager grabbed a few coolers and spent the afternoon at our favourite beach.
Being a weekday, there's less boat traffic, but a handful of powerboats were conglomerating about a half-mile off-shore. Looked like a couple of them were putting out tubes with wee children aboard.
In due time, four boats and a jet-ski took off full throttle in the direction of Griffith Island. Three of the boats were v-8 inboards, and the last one had twin v-8 inboards. That's forty cylinders of gas-guzzling exhilaration!
Not to mention the jet-ski, and judging by the amount of air the pilot was pulling when wake-jumping behind the boats, that had to be another four cylinders.
The day will soon be upon us when that kind of fun will be outlawed. It's very hard to argue that this represents responsible or necessary use of fossil fuels. It won't be long before these boaters become social outcasts. They'll be as toxic as anti-vaxxers and Trump voters. Every responsible citizen must call them out.
But don't you dare call out the US Air Force for creating 100X more greenhouse gases every time a fighter jet is dispatched on another routine bullshit training mission. THAT pollution is the price we pay for freedom!
