It's high time to add cannabis to food bank staples

Now that growing your own weed is legal, I can't be the only guy who finds himself with more herb than I can ever use myself. I can't sell it, on penalty of stiffer punishment than before it was legalized, so eventually I guess I'll feed it to the rabbits or something.

Which strikes me as a waste. There are legions of poor among us who struggle to buy groceries, let alone the little luxuries of life, like pot. Food banks have been a growth industry, to our shame, for decades now. There's nothing on the political horizon that I can see changing that.

So why can't we do a progressive and humanitarian thing? Why can't hemp hobbyists donate their surplus to the local food bank?
