Nothing fancy, but you own it! And you own the land it sits on, which is the main thing.
That used to be why people invested in real estate. You owned the land!
That was such a novelty for all those immigrants from eastern Europe who got off the boat back in the fifties. Now they own most of the real estate around the GTA. That's why 60k won't get you a parking spot in Toronto.
But it'll get you a roof over your head and a half acre of land in New Brunswick.
And the local fish processing plant is always hiring.
