You have to hand it to Tony Blair.
Having forever besmirched the name of the Labour Party in his ten years as Prime Minister, Tony has not gone empty-handed into that post-Downing Street wilderness. No, it seems Phony Tony is doing quite well for himself.
The British press is agog with stories of Tony's good fortune. He made himself close to 20 million dollars last year, on which he paid a piddling half a million in tax. That's about a 2.5% tax rate. Who knew it was possible for him to befoul Labour principles even further in retirement?
Tony demands mid six figures for a speaking engagement. So when he was debating the erstwhile blasphemer Christopher Hitchens back in 2010 about the relative merits of our Lord, Tony wasn't doing Gods work for nothing.
Tony is also God's special envoy for Mid-East peace. It is not known if our Lord cuts that cheque directly or if there are earthly middle-men involved. Suffice to say that whoever has been paying for those efforts should get their money back.
More of God's work is done in partnership with those Christian worthies the JP Morgan Company. They think so highly of Tony's close connections with Jehova that they pay him millions a year just to pray for them.
Enjoy the ride, Mr. Prime Minister.
God willing, there will be a judgement day.
