The Harper gang enacts new laws to protect war memorials but feels free to piss on veterans

Back in 2006, around the time the Harper gang seized power in Ottawa, a scandalous story made the news about three youthful miscreants who were photographed urinating on the national war memorial.

News stories at the time claimed that the offenders would face prison sentences of up to two years in the event they were apprehended.

The other day the Harperites, with considerable fanfare, celebrated the passage of Bill C-217, a statute to protect war memorials.

The new bill provides for prison sentences of two weeks for a second offence and three months for a third offence for anyone vandalizing a war memorial.

The Harper gang never miss an opportunity for patriotic flag-waving. Even though existing legislation affords much stiffer penalties than what is contained in the new bill, C-217 is being lauded as a great leap forward in institutionalizing respect for our military.

Meanwhile, that same Harper gang has been pissing all over our veterans. They have spent millions trying to avoid paying benefits to Canadians grievously wounded in Afghanistan. Veterans had to spend tons of money taking the Harper Government to court in order to receive a bare minimum of decency and respect.

Yet these same politicians now want to wrap themselves in the flag and crow about how much they care for Canada's veterans.

Disgusting!
