Conrad Black is getting out of the slammer this week.
The Canadian government, aka the Harper gang, has given him a one year permit to come back to the country that he was born in and that he has considered home his entire life.
Well, that's led to a lot of gnashing of teeth among my lefty friends in Canada.
A one year permit for a convicted criminal who renounced his Canadian citizenship years ago?
Oh, for fuck's sakes!
Lighten up, you progressive fellow-travelers!
Ya, I know as well as anybody that Conrad was the embodiment of everything we love to hate about unctuous ruling-class silver-spoon twats.
But that was then.
This is now.
Conrad paid his debt to society. Well, sort of.
He has learned some hard lessons about class and the administration of justice and all kinds of stuff.
I've been following the periodic Conrad missives that have emerged since his incarceration, and I've gone from being a Conrad hater to a Conrad fan.
Let's give the guy a break!
