Helmet manufacturers laud STPD proposal

Bill Vrysjic of the American Helmet Manufacturers Association today called for speedy passage of laws that will make it mandatory for all occupants of vehicles to wear helmets.

"This isn't just about safety" Vrysjic told a news conference. "This is a 30 to 60 billion dollar shot in the arm for the American economy. We're not just going to save lives, we're going to save the country!"

When questioned about what percentage of American helmet manufacturers still manufacture their helmets in America, Vrysjic claimed that he didn't have those numbers but added that it didn't really matter because it was American lives that were going to be saved.

"What's your point?" he shot back. "It's a hypothetical question. Would you rather be alive because you wore a helmet manufactured in Korea or China, or dead because you didn't wear one made in America? This legislation is all about saving lives."
