The millions of North Americans, Christians and Jews alike, who refuse on principal to criticize anything going on in the promised land, need to acquaint themselves with the story of Tanya Rosenbilt.
Labelled the "Israeli Rosa Parks", Tanya last month refused to move to the back of a city bus when ordered to do so by a male passenger.
That's right, more and more bus routes in Israel permit the segregation of passengers based on the demands of the ultra orthodox religious nutters. These are public buses paid for out of the public purse. The manly men ride at the front. The unclean breeding vessels ride in the back.
This is Israel?
Rosenbilt became an overnight sensation everywhere but in North America, where the major news outlets had bigger fish to fry. Like, would Tebow's Christian faith take his team to the Super Bowl? Would Newt triumph in Iowa?
In the rest of the world, Rosenbilt was immediately recognized as the reincarnation of Rosa Parks, the courageous woman who refused to move to the back of a city bus in Alabama in 1955 because someone didn't like the color of her skin.
Israel 2012. Alabama 1955.
Rosenbilt reports that she has been regularly recieving death threats since she made the headlines. So did Rosa Parks.
That's progress for you.
